Publication of a PHD dissertation on the poet Erâqi.
Fakhr al-din ‘Erâqi Hamadâni (1213-1289), who lived during the Mongol invasion, had contacts with several of the main spiritual trends of his time: antinomic Sufism (qalandars), brotherhood Sufism (Suhrawardiyya),  poetical “khorasanian” sufism  and  the trend of the oneness of being (wahdat al-wujûd). The originality of his work, composed of  a collection of poems (mainly written in ghazal) and a prose manual, The Flashes (Lama’ât), is a mixture of Persian Sufi love poetry and  Ibn ‘Arabi’s Arabian speculative Sufism. This book intends to present his metaphysical view, poetic characters, his conception of the mystical path, his symbolism and imagery as well as his modes of self-expression: love poetry,  libertinism (qalandari), bacchic themes and divine indirect contemplation (shâhedbâzi).

Medieval Persia from Islamization to the Mongol invasion, from the 7th to the 13th century. A much larger territory than present-day Iran, an age-old civilization between the Mediterranean world and Asia. Persia was soon more than just a province of the Muslim Empire. We can see throughout the pages of this guide the rich contribution of Persia to Muslim civilization, institutions and intellectual and artistic productions. This was not without consequences, including on contemporary geopolitics.
