This study presents the list of mammals and analyzes taxonomic diversity by cover in three mining projects of Drummond Ltd. located in the department of Cesar. We recorded 66 species from 30 families and 9 orders of mammals, where Chiroptera (24 spp.), Rodentia (16 spp.) and Carnivora (10 spp.) have the highest number of species. Four of them are endemic: Aotus griseimembra, Cebus versicolor, Pattonomys semivillosus and Proechimys chrysaeolus. Mammals were found in 12 coverages, particularly shrublands, gallery forests and grasslands (43 spp.). Results highlight the importance of compensation and conservation actions in mining projects, which generally have native ecosystems associated with tropical dry forest. These areas are critical in the maintenance and protection of wild mammals, as they are embedded in a regional matrix of clean and stock pastures.

There is a growth in conflicts between felines and humans, however, in some areas of the Caribbean region these problems are not documented. We seek, through ethnographic methods, to determine local perceptions and existing conflicts between the community and the felines found in the area. We interviewed people who have suffered damage from felines in a rural community of Plato Magdalena, recording information about factors that generate conflicts in the area and perceptions about the faunal group in question. It was found that felines are perceived negatively by farmers due to the predation of domestic animals in the study area, this causes communities to use hunting as population control strategies. Here we find an approach to the perceptions and conflict that exist between felines and farmers. We hope that this contribution motivates future research on the phenomenon, especially aimed at defining management actions, quantification of losses and peaceful coexistence with the species.

Retaliatory hunting following livestock depredation is one of the main threats to jaguars (Panthera onca) and pumas (Puma concolor) in the Americas. Records from government reports, natural resource agencies, media, and fieldwork observations were consulted to characterize human-big cat conflict in Colombia's Paramillo National Natural Park. From 2007 to 2022, big cat depredation on domestic dogs and livestock was characterized by 37 events, 84 % of which corresponded to attacks by jaguars. The most predated animals, in order of attacks, were pigs, dogs, sheep, and cows. Surplus killings (i.e. > 1 animal attacked in a depredation event) accounted for 61 % of all depredation events. The main management barriers are insufficient personnel to verify depredation and a lack of clear operational protocols. Finally, strategies to lower depredation risk and improve current management are identified.

For C. lanatus, the estimated model area was 940,007 km 2 with the greatest habitat suitability in the forest cover of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the central mountain range, the Magdalena River valleys and the Andean-Orinosence piedmont. The areas of occupancy (AOO) and extent of occurrence (EOO) in Colombia are 268 km 2 and 182,741 km 2 for C. derbianus, 652 km 2 and 1,036,486 km 2 for C. lanatus, with an overlap area of 37,889 km 2. Although we found high uncertainty in the records for C. philander in Colombia, we consider that the species probably has representation in the eastern Amazon and Orinoquia regions. This information could be useful to provide new perspectives for the study of the ecological interactions of these Neotropical marsupials, as well as for assessing threats to woolly opossums in Colombia.

The objective of this work was to know the species of mammals that are distributed and used by the Embera Eyabida indigenous communities of the Abibe mountain range. Methods such as the use of camera traps, 70 structured surveys and field trips were used. The communities identified 40 species of wild mammals, among which five are reported to be of conservation interest at the national level, such as the jaguar (Panthera onca), the Andean bear (Tremarctos ornatus), the tapir (Tapirus terrestris), the black mica (Ateles fusciceps) and the cotton-top tamarin (Saguinus oedipus). The use of 15 species of mammals was identified, highlighting those that are used in traditional medicine. Our results suggest the great importance of this group of vertebrates for indigenous communities and the need to promote species conservation plans and strengthen articulation with other conservation figures such as the Paramillo National Natural Park that adjoins these reservations.

To date it is the only species of Pattonomys documented in the country. We provide information on the rarity, and conservation status of P. semivillosus based on the current and potential distribution, population density and size using information from the literature, new records, and museum vouchers. We confirmed 66 occurrences that belong to 25 localities in six departments (Atlántico, Bolívar, Cesar, La Guajira, Magdalena, Santander, and Sucre) in northern Colombia, including 18 new localities not previously reported in the literature, mostly in the highly threatened Tropical Dry Forest ecosystem. The population density in three sites of Department of Cesar was 5.4 ind/km2, 5.9 ind/km2, and 32.4 ind/km2. The species matches with the Category D of rarity, and we suggest an update to the threatened assessment (from Least C...
