Archaeology is becoming a computer game. Technology has become the norm of all scientific practice. According to Dr. Harry Schafer, 99% of history can only be revealed by archaeology, since written history only occurred recently and we have little to no documentation about the past. Digital archaeology is leaving sites underground hidden away from the world. Lack of public interest in archaeology has caused a shortage of funding for projects and the transition into cyberspace. The purpose of this article is to increase public awareness about the impact of digital archaeology on our cultural heritage.

Based on the information presented above in the four case studies, you are to voice your view on how Institutional Review Boards (in the U.S.) and/or Review Ethics Boards (in Canada) should enforce a set of common rules regarding research. How much freedom should researchers be allowed in conducting their research? What regulations should be enforced to prevent the abuse of research subjects and ensure, more generally, that the research strives to promote positive benefits for the larger society sponsoring it?

We're waging war on drugs. Smoke, visions, and needles: Past and present, drugs are a part of peoples' lives. Why is this? From psychedelic mushrooms to why you should vaccinate your children, this issue will look at disease, natural substances, and chemically engineered drugs which alter our lives either for better or worse.

Tattoos, piercings, body art, oh my! Personal modifications range from permanent changes to your body to clothing, shoes, and accessories used on a day-to-day basis. Why do we follow the public "trend"? What does your exterior say to everyone else? Looking at all aspects of the physical human body, this issue goes beyond the abstractions of people.

Throughout generations, people cure ailments through chants, specific lifestyles, local herbs, and more. Today, pharmaceuticals have taken priority over traditional remedies. For this fall's issue we're going to focus on looking back at these other remedies and the pros and cons of modern practices. As always, we strive to relate the past and present and show the good and bad sides of both.

Everywhere around you are colors and symbols - what does it all mean? Why do we use them? A lot of what we do now has a root in the past - it's time to look at the most common element of our lives and make sense of it.

As our debute issue, the central theme is Origins. What are our origins? Where do we come from? Why do the things we do? Looking at technology, architecture, and archaeology primarily, what do your origins say about you?

Moving around throughout her childhood, Melanie Magdalena found herself intrigued by the stories that each new city held. Filled with all this cultural diversity, she launched a site where she recounted prehistoric tales in her saga The Chronicles of the Forgotten. Soon after, she began focusing more on the mysteries of ancient civilization. Continuing an undergraduate degree in archaeology at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque in the fall, Melanie’s already got her foot in the door with BermudaQuest, an archaeology resource site.

Around the world information is controlled. In the United States, information is available all the time, not always accurate but available. Information is the power of a progressive society. Without availability of information, people cannot interact with the world around them. In the United States, freedom of speech is a birthright. We can all access information. In countries where this freedom nonexistent there are inventive ways for accessing non-democratized information. Radio, television, newspapers, and the Internet brought about the information revolution. Now as a global society we face a conflict: the powers and perils of the democratization of information.
