    Abstrak: Pendekatan kontekstual disarankan sesuai bagi mengurangkan kesukaran memahami konsep-konsep fizik yang secara tradisinya diajar terpisah daripada aplikasi. Pendekatan ini dikatakan membolehkan konsep-konsep fizik diperkenalkan dalam konteks kehidupan sebenar. Dengan cara ini, diharapkan pelajar-pelajar dapat meningkatkan prestasi, minat serta motivasi dalam mata pelajaran Fizik. Artikel ini membentangkan dapatan kajian yang bertujuan untuk mengkaji kesan pendekatan pengajaran kontekstual dalam meningkatkan kefahaman konsep-konsep fizik dalam kalangan pelajar lelaki dan perempuan. Kajian melibatkan pelajar-pelajar Tingkatan Empat yang mengambil mata pelajaran Fizik. Perbezaan pencapaian antara pelajar lelaki dengan perempuan ditentukan berdasarkan prestasi mereka dalam ujian konsep fizik yang diberi selepas pengajaran yang menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual. Abstract: Contextual approach is suggested to reduce the difficulties in understanding physics concepts which were traditionally taught apart from its application. This approach is said to allow for the physics concepts to be introduced in real-life context. In this way, it is hoped that students can improve their performance, interests and motivation in Physics. This article presents the findings of a study aimed at investigating the effects of contextual approach to teaching to enhance the understanding of physics concepts among Form Four science students. The difference in achievement between male and female students is determined by looking at their performance in the physics concept test administered after teaching using contextual approach.
