I spent my career, briefly, in corporate archaeology for Berger and URS, two massive engineering firms that dabble in cultural compliance. The remainder of my career was spent as a federal archaeologist, working for a variety of agencies, in Texas, Arizona, California, Nevada, and Wyoming. Highlights included leading the team that discovered the Emanuel Point II shipwreck, sunk in 1559, an ancient lost city in way down southern Louisiana, and the sacred Salt Trail of one of the O'odham groups. Ultimately, I did lots of jobs for the Feds along with the archaeology, including cultural anthropologist, historian, criminal investigator, intelligence analyst (USAF), and occasional diplomat on behalf of the State Department. I retired in 2020.edit
