This project aims to provide a deeper understanding of the interaction between physical, psychological, social, and spiritual factors that affect the mortality and health of this target group. The methods used were qualitative. Data from phenomenological interviews, questionnaires, medical reports, and existing literature were composed to develop a grounded theory depicting the overall health of wheelchair users. The research team explored death causes, risk factors of premature death, and contributors that affect risk factors. In the discussion, we explored and analyzed specific patterns of interaction of the factors in the data and other research projects. Moreover, we attempted to analyze these patterns through the viewpoint of the Greek-Orthodox tradition. In general, the project confirmed previous research findings. The most common death causes seemed to be heart attacks and cancer. These seemed t...

Those communities, our parishes, are ‘the cells of worship life’ and it is in them that we discover the “catholic” – the completeness – in our experience that allows to understand the wider church but that the diocese or the oikumene. So if there is to be eucharistic sharing, it requires us to think about this reality: the parish and how people relate within it. This essay is a contribution to this reflection and calls us to recognise that while theologians “think global,” Christians “act local.” – Thomas O’Loughlin.

In addition, every exchange of faith and faith experience in the format of a conference forum can only operate within an acknowledged and confessed distance from the faith and faith experience itself. This much is known. Nevertheless, the challenge here is to try to outline some of the concerns, the quests, and the sensitivities that are important for the Eastern Christian tradition in a way that is based on our sense of faith, while at the same time trying to open up this faith. Therefore, it is necessary to refrain, as much as possible, from a systematic or historical exposition of Eastern Christianity and instead touch on what concepts such as spirituality, knowledge of God, spiritual life, and salvation mean for this tradition.

However, it is possible to consider each work separately as well as the entire CD in a different light, by querying the motivation of the text and the wider context of worship in which it emerged. Although the liturgical orientation in the CD has been noticed by certain scholars (and has been denied by others), there is very little research that actually examines it in detail. This presentation will attempt to approach Dionysios as a writer whose main interest was to deepen the understanding of the liturgical practices of his day in the context of philosophical mystical thought, rather than to get directly involved in the heated theological disputes of the time. In addition, this approach will address the question of his pseudonymity, which, combined with the unusual structure of his entire work, allows us to appreciate him as a unique writer, whose concerns and instincts are more relevant for us today than for his contemporaries.

His work engages not only with issues of philosophy and theology, but also takes in wider questions of culture and politics. With contributions from established and new scholars this collection considers the four main strands of Yannaras’ work - philosophy, theology, ethics and culture - and reflects on the ways in which Yannaras has engaged and influenced thought across these fields.
