In this article I shought to investigate the cultural dynamics happened in the area of Valdinievole throughout the electrification process between 1895 and 1915. Indeed, I highlight several specific electrical application which contributed to a radical cultural shift within the ideological framework of the "Age of Progress". These applications belongs to a wide range of sets: from the electric tramway Lucca-Pescia-Monsummano to electricity-based therapies in Montecatini's termal baths; from the first electric lighing systems to industrial electrical machineries. The central idea is to investigate how mentality, habits, ideas and conceptualizations changed during the spread of electricity.

EBUSUS Y POMPEYA. TESTIMONIOS MONETALES DE UNA RELACIÓN MARITIMA (A. Arévalo D. Bernal & D. Cottica, eds.)
Anfore ebusitane e commercio a Pompei (III-I secolo a.C.): l'evidenza del Progetto I.E. (Impianto Elettrico, 1980-1981) nel'area del Foro. (2014)2014 •

The Porto Vecchio was born out of the Austrian imperial government will and even the Trieste local authorities (the Municipality and the Chamber of Commerce) to enhance the northernmost point of the Mediterranean basin at a time when the Suez Canal was just inaugurated and the first trains departed from Vienna arrived in Trieste: the city at that time knew how to seize opportunities for development through the construction of a new port near the railway station, according to a clear strategy that focused on logistics and transport infrastructure. Until the Port gates were erected the Port of Trieste Gates was effectively part of the city and its configuration was based as an urban structure, giving the warehouse architecture style characteristics similar to those of the Lloyd Arsenal and the Miramare Castle. The architectural style of silos and hangars echoes the "Gothic squared" but the most innovative aspect is the application of reinforced concrete, then new technique which was largely applied in Trieste. At this time the city is in the spotlight of many interests, both scientific and economic but also cultural.
In Sardinia, throughout the twentieth century there was a sort of competition between the main systems for generating electricity: the hydro and thermal that, during the time, have alternated at the top of the production. At this dualism we can coincide a second: hydroelectric production, in the inland areas and thermal production, in the coastal areas. The reason is easily understandable: the dams on rivers are in inland areas; while Sulcis coalfield is on the south-western coast (it was the main source of domestic coal during the twentieth century and it is currently the only active mine in Italy). The nationalization of electric power industries (1962) permitted, through the first submarine power line (1968), the connection between Sardinian electrical grid and Italian and Corsican grids. This led to the development of chemical industry in Sardinia, which was localized mainly along the coasts: Porto Torres, Portovesme, Cagliari, etc. Consequently the coastal electric production, ...
The article is focused on a little – but significant – exhibition organised in Venice in Spring 1913. The I Esposizione d’Arte Veneta, that took place in the spaces beside the Misericordia, was indeed the perfect mirror of the middle taste of the local collectors. Its 139 works included some well-known names, as Alessandro Zezzos or Carlo Lorenzetti or Duilio Korompay, and some other artists belonging to a new generation that was not included in the o icial Biennale and neither in the Secessionist movement of the Ca’ Pesaro exhibitions.
