This essay is a theologico-philosophical meditation on Bruno Schulz, focusing on his "love for the marginal": a special attention paid to tandeta, in other words all things trashy, located on the eponymous edges of the world, far away from the center. Contrary to the assumed mode of interpretation, which reads Schulz's fascination with the "dark forces of life" in terms of the depth subversive toward the surface, I propose a different scheme: an opposition of center and edges/margins, deriving from the Kabbalistic metaphysics of Isaac Luria, which constituted the primary matrix of the Hasidic Kabbalah, known to Schulz as the member of the prewar Drohobycz Jewry. I then juxtapose Schulz's intuition of a life thriving on the cosmological margins with Freud's early theory of the drives, especially his concept of perversion as a "libido on the edge." In both writers we find a similar echo of the spatial Kabbalistic imagining of the relation between the emptied center and the rich diaspora of life, dispersing and multiplying on the fringes of the "cosmic exile."

Our paper analyses the distribution of two morphologically finite perfective forms marking consecutive events in Abaza narratives on the basis of oral texts, including the recordings of the “Pear story”. We show that despite considerable variation the usage patterns of these forms are sensitive to such factors as episode boundaries, type of semantic relation between events, and tail-heal linkage constructions. This allows us to draw parallels between the Abaza verbal forms and the narrative uses of finite and “medial” (e.g. converb) forms in other languages.

A revolução 4.0 traz à tona transformações significativas ao mundo normativo, tendo em vista que conduz modificações exorbitantes no status quo. Consequentemente, o Direito é impelido a acompanhar tais mudanças observando os novos fenômenos pós-modernos, incorrendo em problemáticas complexas, isto é, à priori ainda não abordadas, pois se tratam de fatores irremediáveis da modernidade líquida. Sendo assim, em decorrência dos sintomas cibernéticos e digitais, os princípios do Design passaram a ser aplicados ao Direito buscando soluções. A fim de construir um sistema legal compatível com as demandas do século XXI, bem como, salvaguardar o acesso à Justiça, irrompe o Design Jurídico no intento de fomentar a inovação e propor uma nova “arte” para o direito. O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar as nuances do Legal Design através de uma fundamentação teórica, respaldando os seus princípios, tal como, empírica ao versar sobre a sua mecânica. Os conceitos utilizados abordam termos como navegabilidade, design centrado no usuário, inovação e justiça digital. A metodologia de pesquisa adotada foi a explicativa, buscando evidenciar a importância do tema. Propõe-se, desse modo, apresentar ponderações e analisar a influência desse novo modus operandi sobre o sistema legal. O intento primordial é, através do método hipotético-dedutivo, abordar a tecnologia e a criatividade como vetores imprescindíveis para a construção de um Direito 4.0, bem como, apresentar um novo mindset jurídico.

Nei secoli scorsi le relazioni fra Sant'Uffizio e Propaganda sono state sovente contrastate, caratterizzate da periodi di collaborazione e altri di diffidenza reciproca, in un complesso contesto geopolitico in continua evoluzione, connotato da delicate relazioni diplomatiche e aspirazioni religiose che coinvolsero monarchie e imperi, patronati reali e compagnie mercantili, ordini religiosi e clero secolare, altre congregazioni romane e popolazioni da rieducare o di prima cristianizzazione.

The emergence and spread of carbapenem-resistant bacteria are a significant clinical and public health concern. The aim of the study is to determine the prevalence of intestinal carriage of carbapenem-resistant bacteria and yeasts in cancer patients under chemotherapy. 41 stool samples collected from cancer patients in Nini hospital in Tripoli, North Lebanon have been analyzed. After isolating yeasts and carbapenem-resistant bacteria, a biochemical identification and antimicrobial susceptibility profile were determined. The mechanism of enzymatic carbapenem-resistance was detected by searching for carbapenemases by both Hodge test and PCR assays. The association of several mechanisms of resistance was also searched. 46.3% (19/41) of patients were colonized by yeast. Candida glabrata (6/19) was the major species. Thromboembolic complications are well recognized events in Covid-19 infection. Most of the case fatalities are due to this event. Although any blood vessels may be involved, larger vessels are less commonly involved in this process. Here we describe a case of thrombosis of the arch of the aorta in association of Covid-19 infection in a hospitalized patient. Due to the observation of a great number of patients having achrocordons, when they underwent fine needle biopsies for thyroid nodules, we decided to perform a prospective study to investigate the relationship between this finding and the presence of insulin resistance (IR), since achrocordons are commonly seen in hyperinsulinemic subjects. A total of 120 consecutive women, aged 18-35 yrs were studied. All subjects were also evaluated by thyroid ultrasound (US) for measuring thyroid volume and the presence of non-palpable nodules. Basal and post-prandial serum insulin was measured in all of them, as well as the Homeostasis Model Assessment (HOMA). Subjects were divided in two groups: Group A, with achrocordons (n = 44) and Group B, without achrocordons (n = 76). Group A showed 24 patients (54.5%) with thyroid nodules, whereas Group B only 13 subjects (17.1%); p = 0.0087. When we considered, as having high normal thyroid volume, the glands weighting more than 16 grams by US, without nodules, it was found that 8/44 cases from Group A (18.6%) and 3/76 from Group B (3.9%) fitted in such category, p = 0.0076. In patients with nodules and/or bigger thyroids, IR was observed in 36/44 (81.8%) of Group A and 14/76 (18.4%) of Group B, p = 0.0069, while the overall prevalence of IR was 0.47 in Group A and 0.05 in Group B, p = 0.00094. It is concluded that patients with achrocordons have a higher prevalence of US-detected thyroid nodules and larger thyroid glands. Then, it may be beneficial to search for thyroid abnormalities in those subjects with skin tags.

Developmental adversities early in life are associated with later psychopathology. Clustering may be a useful approach to group multiple diverse risks together and study their relation with psychopathology. To generate risk clusters of children, adolescents, and young adults, based on adverse environmental exposure and developmental characteristics, and to examine the association of risk clusters with manifest psychopathology. Participants (n = 8300) between 6 and 23 years were recruited from seven sites in India. We administered questionnaires to elicit history of previous exposure to adverse childhood environments, family history of psychiatric disorders in first-degree relatives, and a range of antenatal and postnatal adversities.
