Neste trabalho de base etnográfica acompanho diversos jovens músicos que aprenderam a tocar no contexto institucional português da Orquestra Geração, um projeto de inclusão social através da música que se inspirou nas orquestras infantis e juvenis do El Sistema, da Venezuela. Desse modo, a partir desta plataforma comum, irei observar como as redes sociabilidades musicais de alguns destes jovens músicos criam a partir das interações no espaço público das ruas de Lisboa, uma ‘micro banda de metais’ surgida das intensas relações de interconhecimento, aspirações e sonhos coletivos. Nesse sentido, pretendo analisar a integração artística, as trajetórias musicais e a vida social – de jovens músicos empenhados em manifestar-se cívica e culturalmente na esfera pública da cidade. A música parece ser um fato indissociável da existência humana. A história e a arqueologia mostram que ela esteve presente na humanidade desde épocas imemoriais e continua tendo um papel de destaque na expressão de nossos pensamentos, sentimentos e ações. Atualmente pode-se dizer que todas as culturas fazem música e que seus membros se expressam musicalmente, seja de forma rudimentar ou altamente sofisticada. Segundo o filosofo da música Victor Zuckerkandl 1 , isto implica em que, não apenas alguns homens são musicais enquanto outros não o são, mas que o homem é um ser musical, um ser predisposto à musica e com necessidade de música, um ser que para sua plena realização precisa expressar-se em tons musicais e deve produzir música para si mesmo e para o mundo. Neste sentido, musicalidade não é algo que alguém possa ter ou não ter, mas algo que – junto com outros fatores – é constitutivo do ser humano. Faz-se música porque música faz parte da vida. Faz-se música para si mesmo, para os outros, para celebrar, louvar, lamentar, curar, se divertir, ritualizar momentos significativos da vida de indivíduos e da coletividade. A música não é pela música, mas é a forma sonora humanizada coerente com a experiência vivida. Quando partimos desta constatação e juntamos a isso o papel da música como meio de cura, promoção de saúde e do bem estar de indivíduos e comunidades, assim como encontramos em diversas culturas, fica clara e justificada a proposta de se trazer a música para o ambiente hospitalar; especialmente naquelas situações onde a longa permanência rouba das pessoas grande parte da liberdade e o contato com a vida circundante. Todavia, é preciso compreender como a música pode ser trabalhada nestes contextos para que de fato seja uma força salutogênica e não apenas mais um estímulo acústico perturbador como tantos outros já o são. Quando se fala hoje da aplicação da música na saúde naturalmente surge em nossa mente o conceito " musicoterapia ". Embora a música venha sendo utilizada já a muitos séculos com propósitos terapêuticos 2 , a musicoterapia estruturada como área do saber e do fazer, é no ocidente algo recente.
