In this article, we look at how Renaissance engineers approached work and its organisation and then turn to some of Leoanrdo's projects such as the construction of digging cranes to reduce the use of labour on construction sites.

The Concept of Individuality in Friedrich Meinecke’s Early WorkThis article investigates the centrality of the concept of individuality in the young Friedrich Meinecke’s theory of history, positing it as a fundamental element shaping Meinecke’s historical conception. To elucidate this position, an analysis is conducted to discern the significance attributed to the principium individuationis at two critical junctures in Meinecke’s early intellectual development: firstly, in his response to the positivist assault on the German historical school, and secondly, in his endeavor to reconceptualize the underpinnings of a revitalized history of ideas between the late 1800s and the initial decade of the twentieth century. By expounding upon these aspects and contextualizing the intellectual evolution in which these ideas emerged, it is argued that the concept of individuality functioned as a theoretical refuge against what Meinecke perceived as the doctrinaire nature of worldviews incompatible with notions of freedom and spontaneity — principles he considered intrinsic to the historical mode of thought.

Accordingly, Chakrabarty's work can be distinguished into three fundamental periods, symbolized by the imaginative figures of the subaltern, Europe, and the planet. These mark pivotal points in his intellectual biography, which I will attempt to outline here, situating it within the contemporary history of humanities and historiography, with special emphasis on the theory and history of historiography, a subdiscipline that is also the subject of research for the protagonist of this story.

Background Complement factor C3 represents the central component of the complement cascade and its activation split product C3a plays an important role in inflammation and disease. Many human disorders are linked to dysregulation of the complement system and alteration in interaction molecules. Therefore, various therapeutic approaches to act on the complement system have been initiated. Methods and Results Aiming to develop a tool to eliminate C3a/C3 from the circulation, in a first step a high affine murine monoclonal antibody (mAb) (3F7E2-mAb) was generated against complement factor C3 and selected for binding to the C3a region to serve as immunoaffinity reagent. Functional testing of the 3F7E2-mAb revealed an inhibition of Zymosan-induced cleavage of C3a from C3. Subsequently, a C3a/C3 specific 3F7E2-immunoaffinity column was developed and apheresis of C3a/C3 and associates was performed.
