Libraries are increasingly adopting cloud computing, a new technology model for Information Technology (IT) services. Cloud computing is of interest to health care professionals as well as health consumers. Health Science libraries maintain more control over the applications and data repositories that contain sensitive, private information about patrons. Provision and maintenance of infrastructure for web-based digital library presents several challenges. It allows them to avoid locally hosting multiple servers, housing massive equipment and constantly dealing with hardware failure, software installs, upgrades and compatibility issues. This paper describes the concept, current status of cloud computing and its application in health science libraries. Then it proposed to improve current user service via cloud computing.
The application of information and communication technology in libraries increasing day by day and the modern libraries are converting towards paper less or virtual libraries. The cloud computing is a new technology model and it is becoming popular in the field of education, entertainment, medical, military operations, security issue, business, finance and various other organizations. It facilitates to avoid locally hosting multiple servers, devices, equipments and constantly dealing with hardware failure, software installation, upgrades and compatibility issues. In libraries it provides a common platform for all and facilitates to information storage and sharing on a single efficient system that saves the cost and time. This paper has defined the concept of cloud computing and its application in libraries.

The purpose of this paper is to determine the awareness and use of cloud computing services and technology among library personnel and library users in selected university libraries in Gujarat, India. A detailed survey was piloted using structured set of questionnaires among 210 library users which comprised of post graduate students, research scholars and faculty of the respective university and 15 senior library professionals participated in the survey. Study discovered that 78.57% of library users and 80% of library staff are aware about cloud technology. They are using multiple devices for cloud computing and 65.71% of library users using Laptop and 31.41% of them using smart phone, tablets and ipads. Majority of professional library staff use desktop and expressed that cloud technology is very useful in providing library services. Maximum 96% of respondents using Gmail services, 52.44% video service through YouTube, 65.78% using Google drive for file storage & sharing services....

This research paper investigates the adoption and implementation of cloud computing in academic libraries of within the region of Assam, India. The primary focus of the study is on three prominent cloud-based library management systems-Koha, DSpace, and cloud-hosted library websites. The overarching objective is to assess the impact of cloud computing on the efficiency, accessibility, and overall management of academic libraries in Assam. Employing a comprehensive methodology that includes literature review, surveys, and case studies, this research endeavours to offer valuable insights into the challenges and benefits associated with the transition to cloud-based library solutions in the specific context of Assam. The study begins by outlining the prevalent global trends in cloud computing adoption in libraries, establishing the significance of this technological shift. It then narrows its focus to Assam, a region with a burgeoning academic landscape, to understand how cloudbased library management systems are being embraced. The three selected systems, Koha, DSpace, and cloud-hosted library websites, serve as focal points for in-depth analysis.
This paper overviews the basic concept of newly develop area known as cloud computing. The use of cloud computing in libraries and how cloud computing actually works is illustrated in this communication. Cloud computing technology came up as a boon for libraries and is offering various opportunities for libraries to connect their services with clouds. The paper presents an overview of cloud computing and its possible applications that can be clubbed with library services on the web based environment. This study may be helpful in identifying and generating cloud based services for libraries. Latest technological development has brought a dramatic change in every field, and library science is not exception to it. Information technology impacted positively on library and information system and services they provide for users. The libraries have been automated, networked and now moving towards paper less or virtual libraries. To gather challenges in the profession librarians are also applying different platforms in Library science filed for attaining economy in information handling.

Cloud Computing Libraries in the Era of ICT.pdf2016 •
The purpose of this paper is to study the Cloud computing on various library services and also the basic knowledge about the cloud computing in the era of Information Communication Technology (ICT). This study adopts theoretical and practical approach.
Cloud computing is the buzzword in today's businesses and organizations. It gives the benefit of hosting your files on a network that could be accessed anywhere anytime rather than hosting on a local server which has limitations of availability and connectivity. It thus, is a memory and time saving process. Our paper defines what makes cloud computing so different and how its solution benefits the library system. This study also reveals the opportunities it brings for the library system by connecting services with cloud. It can help to re-invent the library services in a more effective, compatible and user–centric way.
We are living in the technical era. We can see the effect of the technology in the daily life of human being. Technology save the time and help us to complete a deed in minimum time. Like in other fields, the modern libraries are also using the various technologies in its housekeeping & technical works like acquisition, technological processing, circulation, OPAC etc. Today libraries are techno driven and yes “Cloud computing” is also one of them. In this paper we’ll present the detailed overviews and application of cloud computing in the services of modern libraries.

Cloud computing: Tyres, services and application in academic librariesFrom the last few years, the value of cloud computing is increasing because it is major technology solution for business & organizations around the world. Cloud computing is a recent concept that gives new technology model for IT services which save time & money also. This paper discusses definition of cloud computing. What is cloud computing? What are the types of cloud computing? What are the cloud computing services? How these services can be the solutions for libraries? What are the various examples of each cloud computing types & services? Cloud computing solutions can create the new workflows needed by libraries because it offers the opportunity for a co-operative platform for libraries to build on. There are four principles of a co-operative platform, viz. Openness, Extensibility, Data richness & collaboration. Libraries have the opportunity to improve their services & relevance in today's information society. Cloud computing is one avenue for this move into the future. It can bring several benefits for libraries & give them a different future. This paper discusses mainly the types & services offered through cloud computing. SaaS, PaaS & IaaS are three main services. Also this paper focuses on application of cloud computing in Academic library.
