The objective of this article is to analyze the production of the subject Woman by reviewing some practices, discourses, and technologies promoted by the state, the church, and elites. It is important to emphasize that in most research about women or femininity, female subjectivity appears tightly linked to sexual difference. However, in this work I want to show that the notion of Woman is co-determined by race and class. The experience characteristic of such representation was possible only for a small group of white and bourgeois women. Others-Indian, black, and mestiza "women"-could hardly account for a social experience comparable to the Western narrative about woman. Nevertheless, processes of homogenization allow these others to be classified and disciplined according to the gender norm, yet without altering the prejudices and inequalities produced by the prevailing racist and classist system, which implies the production of other female subjectivities, of other "women."
Active Ageing and Quality of Later Life. From Concepts to Applications
Outdoor Green Spaces and Active Ageing from the Perspective of Environmental Gerontology2021 •
Green areas, gardens, parks and other public spaces are vital in the design of friendly cities due to their positive effects on the health and quality of life of elderly people. Nonetheless, there is limited knowledge of the implications of outdoor green spaces in active ageing, a problem that restricts the design of intervention programs. The research examines the influences of outdoor green spaces in the promotion of active aging, from the approach of environmental gerontology. The methodology is based on a review of the bibliography obtained by consulting databases such as Web of Science and Scopus. The results indicate that exposure to outdoor green spaces promotes active ageing by encouraging physical activities, social relations and active participation in the community. The discussion suggests that via the control of the attributes and functions of these natural settings it is possible to strengthen or weaken the pillars of active ageing (health, security, participation and lifelong learning). We propose a model for intervention in active ageing based on the optimum adaptation of the specific characteristics of outdoor green spaces to the capacities and preferences of elderly people. We also recommend that new research be conducted from interdisciplinary, longitudinal perspectives that use mixed methods in the assessment of the characteristics of physical natural settings, so as to be able to adapt and improve them within the design of intervention programs to encourage active ageing. It is also important to encourage the active participation of elderly people in the design and planning of friendly cities, in which natural elements can promote lifelong healthy lifestyles.

The Gǝʿǝz Manuscripts Collection from the Monastery of Däbrä Ṣǝyon (Abunä Abrǝham, Tǝgray, Ethiopia)The monastery of Däbrä Ṣǝyon (Abunä Abrǝham), situated on a peak of the eastern chains of the Gärʿalta mountains, is one of the well-known medieval Ethiopian monasteries. It is said to have been established in the fourteenth century by St Abrǝham of Tǝgray. According to his own gädl, Abunä Abrǝham was not only the founder of the monastery, but was also known to be an active participant and director of the architectural work of the rock-hewn church. It is known that Gärʿalta is endowed with reflections of Aksumite culture, and the monastery of Däbrä Ṣǝyon also seems to have had its own share in its continuation. Many places and monasteries (in Tǝgray) are linked to this monastery in terms of shared monastic culture and land granting. Däbrä Ṣǝyon is a rock-hewn church in which many Christian historical artefacts have been preserved. Among the non-codex written artefacts, it has preserved, in particular, a ṭawos manuscript. Seventy-two Gǝʿǝz manuscripts, most of which of hagiographical...
