Patrimonialization on the Ruins of Empire - Islamic Heritage and the Modern State in Post-Ottoman Europe, 2024

This article revolves around the modern historiography of Ottoman literature produced between the 14th and 19th centuries. Manuscripts constitute the primary material for Ottoman literary historiography. 186,444 manuscripts are registered in Turkey alone, and these manuscripts were nationalized by the Republic of Turkey through the liquidation of vakıf library collections. This vast manuscript heritage was used to construct a national identity, especially in the early years of the republic. The aim and scope of this study is to discuss the historiographical problems that emerged during this process of nation-building. They continue to have an impact today through the influential opinions of the field’s founding figures.

While some see capitalism as the root cause of today's environmental crisis, economists still maintain that it is precisely the pursuit of private profit that will ultimately bring about the common ecological good: with the right incentive structures, capitalism could overcome the historical link between growth and the overuse of resources and sinks. With properly designed markets, pricing, subsidies, and taxes, capitalism could deliver a greened economy more efficiently and cheaply than any alternative economic systems. Against this, critics argue that capitalism systematically undermines its own ecological conditions of production, and that any serious, long-term engagement with ecological problems would require more social control of basic infrastructures and more direct, use-value-based planning of production.

A rare aquamarine hexagonal prism, of unknown provenance, preserves on its six faces portions of apparent magical words and names, ending with a legible prayer in Greek, "Holy Power, help me!" A closer examination of the formulas shows that the pristine, engraved letters preserve fragments of a bilingual (or trilingual) lexicon, giving translations (hermêneiai) of Greek terms in Hebrew (and Aramaic), copied in Greek. Marginal glosses have also been inadvertently copied back into the text. The transcription was formerly duplicated from a papyrus manual without understanding the textual content of the original model, taking the words as unintellible magical names. Although the bead itself came from India, the gem was probably engraved in Alexandria.

Fire accident as an unplanned and undesirable event that brings damages to social wealth and human life needs to be prevented at all cost. In order to prevent losses accrued from fire accidents, various alarm systems have been developed such as smoke detectors, temperature sensor based systems etc. With the advancement of technology more automated fire gadgets are now available among which is this design. The availability of GSM technology is now incorporated into the fire alarm system in order to combat and prevent the menace that could be caused by fire accident. This paper presents the design and implementation of a costeffective and reliable automated GSM based fire alarm system. The device will be able to monitor the temperature of the environment, the smoke level, send SMS alert to an inbuilt GSM number when necessary, and make loud sound to alert occupants on pending danger.
