Handwriting analysis is the scientific method or way of determining or understanding or predicting the personality or behavior of a writer. Graphology or graph analysis is the scientific name of handwriting analysis. Handwriting often called as brain writing or mind writing, since it is a system of studying the frozen graphic structures which have been generated in the brain and placed on paper in a printed or cursive style. Handwriting Analysis. Validation and Quality, 2018

The chapter deals with the relationship between handwriting and selected personality characteristics of its writer using modern graphometric methods. It introduces the IPCH research (Interpersonal Characteristics in Handwriting, 2010-2012) and its tool used for the scientific description of handwriting, computer comparative graphometry. The analysis consists of optometric processing of handwriting materials obtained from 42 participants. Texts has been produced in a controlled setting in the university premises. Collecting the handwritings followed the same requested scenario, i.e. rewriting well known Czech song (rhyme). Afterwards psychological tests, SSI (Social Skills Inventory) and ICL (Interpersonal Check List), focusing on personality characteristics were administered within the diagnostic part of the research. Research findings point to various correlations between many personality characteristics and graphometric parameters. Among the most significant are the findings that the form of handwritten material is probably related to dominant personality traits, cold directness and aggression, protective tendencies, self-control in social context and conformity. The most important handwriting parameters are width of letters “a”, “o” and “m”, letter size, letter spacing, letter height (especially for two-zone letters, e.g. “h”). Mutuality between handwriting and individual's inclination toward crime is an area of profound fascination. It is challenging to enter the most hidden corners of an abnormal mind in order to discover, understand and explain its resorts, and also to provide clues regarding the way of approaching, treating and planning rehabilitation. In India and other common law countries, insanity is exempted from punishment even if insanity leads to the person committing heinous crimes; because they are considered incapable of deciding the rightness or wrongness of an act. Therefore, it is crucial and imperative to understand the reason behind the antisocial crime and associated factors influencing personality of the offenders especially psychopaths. Forensic graphology and psychiatry are the two major disciplines involved in assessment of psychopathic tendencies and criminality. Both the approaches follow projective nature to analyse and get into deepest of the personality of an individual. Forensic is a punitive science concerned with the passing judgement on human conduct while psychiatry is a therapeutic and reformative science followed for the benefit of society, human rights and psychopaths. Though the two approaches assess personality from different perspectives, when applied together can give a more effective and holistic explanation of criminal behaviour. The present paper describes some important techniques of handwriting analysis and highlights common handwriting patterns of psychopaths.

The present research was carried out to investigate possible correlation between handwriting and age and education. The samples consisted of people in Hamedan of 200 participants (100 men and 100 women) who were chosen randomly through cluster sampling. The data were collected using demographic questionnaire and researcher-made Check-list of Persian graphology (Persian handwriting). To analyze data, descriptive statistics was used along with Pearson correlation and multiple regressions. Results from this study indicate a strong correlation between handwriting and age and education, Therefore, it can be concluded that graphology seems to be correlated with age and education and some of these features are predicted by people’s handwriting.
