28th IRCLAMA COLLOQUIUM
Rab, September 30th – October 3rd 2021
It’s a pleasure for us to invite you to the 28th Annual International Scientific Colloquium of the International Research Centre for Late Antiquity and Middle Ages. The colloquium will take place in Rab, Croatia, from September 30th – October 3rd 2021,
The topic will be the following:
Medieval humanisms, medieval renaissances – do they exist and how are they manifested between Antiquity and the Renaissance
This can include:
the theoretical approach: problems of historical and art-historical periodization of the Middle Ages, definition and meaning of medieval “humanisms” and “renaissances”, the tradition of Classical Antiquity and idea of its revival in medieval arts and culture
the role of intellectual and economic elites in formation of the main artistic currents of the period
the formation of regional “micro-renaissances”
specific problems of analysis of the monuments in the context of the renovation of
Antique tradition in the longue durée
Proposals (in English, French, Italian, German or Spanish), including the title and an abstract of max 500 words) should be sent by the end of July 2021 to irclama.ham@gmail.com.
The scientific committee will consider the relevance of the proposals to the topics of the conference, and will reply by August 28th 2021.

Travel and accommodation: practical details:
The colloquium will be held live, with a possibility of online participation.
Participants will be asked to cover the cost of their own travel and accommodation. Relevant information about hotels will be provided later. For participants of IRCLAMA 28th colloquium there is also a conference fee of 100 Euros, covering the colloquium materials, refreshments in the colloquium breaks, the planned excursion and lunch during the excursion, as well as the last issue of Hortus Artium Medievalium (or any other for authors in the last volume).
