This paper deals with a declaration to the Albanian people by the so called "Macedo-aromunian" movement, being a pro-Romanian quasi-national attempt of a group of ethnically Vlachs to create an autonomous initially form of state, which would be finally annexed to the Romanian national state. The approach is an anthropological one using the theory of nationalism as well as the notion of ethnicity within the historical context of transition from the multi-ethnic ottoman empire to the modern national states.

“The Pealing of Stillness”—Gadamer on Georg Trakl2022 •
Addressing the place of the Austrian poet, Georg Trakl, in the philosophical hermeneutics of Hans-Georg Gadamer, this article turns in particular to Trakl’s poem “A Winter Evening” in order to unfold a sense of language in dialogue with the poet. This engagement equally becomes the occasion for Gadamer to confront Heidegger, whose own reading of Trakl becomes both an inspiration and a challenge.

In 2022 I made a formal gift in honor of my husband Irving Lavin of a black and white marble bust inscribed with the name of Prospero Farinacci (1544-1619). For various reasons, the bust was first given to the non-profit organization LoveItaly to be held for three years and then conveyed to the Republic of Italy. Meanwhile bust resides in the Castel Sant’Angelo, its final destination. The Pamphlet reproduced here I wrote to accompany the gift which was recognized in a ceremony held in the Castello on March 20, 2023.

Femininity, love, and alienation: the genius of The Second Sex2024 •
This article presents an axiological reading of Simone de Beauvoir's The Second Sex, reframing its most famous sentence 'one is not born, but becomes, a woman' as a claim about femininity, love, and alienation under particular conditions of sexual hierarchy. Because this sentence is often taken to express the thesis of The Second Sex on social constructionist readings, Section 1 rejects the aptness of this approach on three grounds. Section 2 outlines an alternative, axiological reading, which better attends to all of the work's parts, and to Beauvoir's emphasis on the concrete inseparability of the physiological, sexual, economic, legal, religious, moral, and aesthetic dimensions of women's situations. Section 3 turns to the sister 'one is not born' clause, in Volume I-'one is not born, but becomes, a genius'-to show that Beauvoir's account of frustrated freedom in The Second Sex concerns not only alienated labour, sex, and love, but also aesthetic creativity and moral invention. The article arises from a British Academy Lecture delivered on 17 October 2023.

Max Weber’s work has been frequently related with Machiavelli’s political thought. Apprehend the specific relationship between Weber and Machiavelli seems to be the key to establish Weber’s closeness to political realism. The present article deals with the specific comparison between Machiavelli and Weber that Friedrich Meinecke made in 1922. After this early comparison the parallelism between both thinkers will be a constant. The first part of the article will be devoted to the especific lecture of Weber that Meinecke rmade where the comparison with Machiavelli’s political thought appears. The second part will be dedicated to Meinecke’s Machiavelli interpretation in order to gain accuracy over the comparison. From Weber to Machiavelli and then from Machiavelli back to Weber. After both parts the final reflections take place where we summarize what we have obtained and finally we analyze Meinecke’s lecture pertinence in comparing it with Weber’s own statements about political realism La obra de Max Weber ha sido relacionada numerosas veces con el pensamiento de Nicolás Maquiavelo.
