BIOGRAPHY Richard M. Hutchings 02 February 2024 Richard M. Hutchings, PhD is a professional social scientist specializing in Salish Sea culture and history. He has produced over a hundred academic papers and technical reports on a variety of subjects, including archaeology, architecture, heritage, tourism, food security, and climate change. Hutchings is the author of the book Maritime Heritage in Crisis: Indigenous Landscapes and Global Ecological Breakdown (Routledge, 2017). He earned his MA in Anthropology from Western Washington University (2004) and his PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of British Columbia (2014).
