Bursting

In this paper, an extended forming limit stress diagram (EFLSD) was applied to predict neck initiation failure in tube hydroforming of metal bellows. The proposed EFLSD was used in conjunction with ABAQUS/ EXPLICIT finite element simulations to predict the onset of necking in tube hydroforming of metal bellows. The amount of calibration pressure and axial feeding required to produce an acceptable part in finite element method (FEM) were compared with the published experimental data and a satisfactory agreement between the FEM and published test results was achieved. Therefore, the present approach can be used as a reliable criterion for designing metal bellows hydroforming processes and reducing the number of costly trials.

Oscillations are an integral part of insulin secretion, and are due ultimately to oscillations in the electrical activity of pancreatic β-cells, called bursting. In this review we discuss islet bursting oscillations and a unified biophysical model for this multi-scale behavior. We describe how electrical bursting is related to oscillations in the intracellular Ca2+ concentration within β-cells, and the role played by metabolic oscillations. Finally, we discuss two potential mechanisms for the synchronization of islets within the pancreas. Some degree of synchronization must occur, since distinct oscillations in insulin levels have been observed in hepatic portal blood and in peripheral blood sampling of rats, dogs, and humans. Our central hypothesis, supported by several lines of evidence, is that insulin oscillations are crucial to normal glucose homeostasis. Disturbance of oscillations, either at the level of the individual islet or at the level of islet synchronization, is detrimental and can play a major role in type II diabetes.

The results of the statistical analysis of seismic activity recorded in the “Zabrze-Bielszowice” coal mine in Poland are presented in this article. The monitoring was conducted by a small network consisting of four triaxial geophones deployed in vertical holes in the roof. For over 1000 seismic events recorded during the two month's experiment, the location of sources was realized. The seismic sources were mostly located ahead of the active face of the longwall. Since the first day of the monitoring, cluster analysis was sequentially performed for increasing number of sources. At the end of the experiment, 31 clusters were identified. They consisted of different numbers of events and were separated in space. About 40% of the events were not included in the clusters. For each large cluster, hazard analysis was separately performed. The hazard function evaluated for the largest cluster was compared with hypocenters of high energy tremors (E>1000 J) recorded by the geophones in that area. For some cases, recorded tremors occurred after an abrupt decrease of hazard function, but only one of them was located in the vicinity of the appropriate cluster. We concluded that for the analyzed cluster, a correlation between evaluated hazard function and time occurrences of the high energy tremors existed. Except for one case, there is no space correlation between analyzed clusters and high energy tremors.

We are proposing to allow the users to audit the cloud storage with very lightweight and ease of communication and computation cost. The auditing which we are going through our research paper result not only ensures strong cloud storage accuracy guarantee, but it also simultaneously achieves fast data error localization, i.e., the identification of hacker information. And securely we are introducing an effective TPA, which is a auditing process which results in bringing in no new vulnerabilities towards user data privacy, and can introduce no additional online burden to user. In this paper, we are going to propose a secure cloud storage system which supports privacy-preserving public auditing. We will further extend our result to enable the TPA to perform audits for various users certainly and efficiently. This shows the proposed scheme is highly efficient and data modification attack, and useful in even server colluding attacks.

Activated protein C (APC) is a serine protease with anticoagulant and antiinflammatory activities. The delaying effects of remote reperfusion injury on the wound-healing process in colonic anastomoses have been previously shown. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether APC protects against deleterious systemic effects of intestinal ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury on colonic anastomotic wound healing process.

In this paper, a phenomenon of air bubbles quickly bursting within several milliseconds on a "self-cleaning" lotus leaf was described. This observation prompted the synthesis of artificial surfaces similar to that of the lotus leaf. The artificial leaf surfaces, prepared by photolithography and wet etching, showed a similar air bubble bursting effect. Smooth and rough silicon surfaces with an ordered nanostructure or patterned microstructure were utilized to study the contribution of the micro/nano hierarchical structures to this phenomenon of air bubble bursting. Air bubbles were found to burst on some superhydrophobic surfaces with microstructure (within 220 ms). However, air bubbles burst much more rapidly (within 13 ms) on similar surfaces with micro/nanostructure. The height, width, and spacing of hierarchical structures could also affect air bubble bursting, and the effect of the height was more obvious. When the height of hierarchical structures was around the height found in natural lotus papillae, the width and spacing were significant for air bubble bursting. An original model was proposed to further evaluate the reason why the micro/nano hierarchical rough structures had an excellent air bubble bursting effect, and the validity of the model was theoretically demonstrated.
