[Article in Italian] A research on the origin of gender assignment of the names of tram and bus lines in Milan (all lines are denominated by digits but the gender is masculine for trams and feminine for buses). This peculiar feature traces back to a time, when buses were marked by letters (which are feminine in Italian). The change of denomination did not affect the previously settled gender assignment.
