An experiment was executed to study the genetic parameters underlying the inheritance of phenological traits of common bean: number of days to flowering and maturity. The experiment comprised of 36 genotypes (8 parents and 28 forward F1 diallel crosses) which were grown in randomized complete block design with two replicates at Mandura, North West Ethiopia. Statistical significant difference was observed between genotypes, parents and progenies for the traits considered. Significant mean squares due to 'a' and 'b' components of Hayman were observed for both the traits. Thus both additive and non-additive types of gene actions were important in governing the inheritance of these traits. However, non-additive type of gene action was more important for number of days to maturity whereas both are almost equally important for the inheritance of number of days to flowering .The b 1 and b 3 components of Hayman showed statistically significant results, implying the presence of directional dominance, and residual dominance and dominance effects specific to individual crosses, respectively in the expression of the traits. The b 2 component of Hayman, however, did not show statistically significance difference for the traits, indicating the absence of gene asymmetry in the expression of the traits. The wr/vr graph for both the traits revealed that the inheritances of both the traits were governed by over dominance with additive gene action and epistasis was not involved. The direction of dominance was confirmed that it was operating in the decreasing direction.

On the few occasions that Kant addresses the subject of truth, he usually does so in relation to the problems involved in the nominal definition of truth and in the search for a truth criterion. The aim of this paper is to provide a synoptic view of the way in which Kant poses these two issues. In the first section of the paper I address the topic of the definition of truth. I begin by explaining what a definition is and what does this entail for the definition of truth. I then present the consequences and problems that Kant draws from this. In the second section of the paper I develop the topic of the criterion of truth. First, I set out Kant's expectations for such criterion and show the limits he encounters. Then I provide a classification and an explanation of the truth criteria that he mentions throughout his work.

Abstract: Membrane thermal stability (MTS) can be a significant selection criterion for heat stress tolerance. MTS is determined by measuring of electirical conductivity of aquause phase in which leaf tissue exposure to high temperature. This research was conducted to investigate the membrane stability assay measured by two different methods, namely MTS and relative injury (RI). The second objective of this experiment was to determine the effects of different growth stages of four spring wheat parents and their six half F2 diallel cross progenies grown in the field on membrane stability. Measurements were taken at different growth stages (seedling, stem elongation and early milk). The MTS and RI assays gave similar results at the three different growth stages. However, growth stages significantly affected the MTS and RI values of genotypes. Membrane stability parameters of genotypes decreased during the later developmental stages. Specific combining ability effects were superior to ...

Tres progenitores (P2, P3 y P4)...

A set of 8×8 diallel crosses (excluding reciprocals) of Indian mustard along with their parents were evaluated to identify heterotic crosses and estimate general and specific combining ability of parents and crosses, respectively. Observations were recorded on 13 economically important characters. Best hybrids were selected on the basis of estimates of mid parent heterosis, better parent heterosis and standard heterosis. Among the 28 hybrids, three hybrids viz., HYOLA 401 × GM-1, PM 67 × ZEM-1 and GM-2 × GM-3 exhibited superior performance for yield and its component traits as they registered significant and positive estimates for midparent, better parent and standard heterosis. Genetic variance components indicated the involvement of non-additive gene action for the inheritance of all the characters under study. Parents viz., GM-3, ZEM-1, Varuna and PM-67 were good general combiner for yield per plant, while HYOLA 401 and HNS 0004 were good general combiner for earliness and dwarfn...
