Castillejo del Bonete is a tumulus complex located on the southern edge the Iberian Plateau, occupied during Chalcolithic and Bronze Age periods, and linked to the Culture known as Motillas. Diverse archaeological objects have been recovered in association with their architectures (barrows, corridors, walls, etc.). Based on charcoal, pollen and microvertebrates a paleoecological study will be discussed. Furthermore, the analysis of different materials such as wood, shell, stone and ivory ornaments together with pottery vessels and metallic
objets will also be carried out. All this evidence could be related to feasting practices and offerings.

"The mega-site of Valencina is currently a major focus of interest for the study of Copper Age Iberia. Remarkable megalithic monuments such as La Pastora, Montelirio or Structure 10.042-10.049 at PP4-Montelirio are found alongside hundreds of other features, including pits and large-sized ditches, some of which have yielded evidence of exotic material craftsmanship without parallels in Iberian Late Prehistory which also suggests long-distance contacts. Part of the flourishing experienced by Valencina in the 3rd millennium BC can be explained by its specific geographic location at the mouth of the Guadalquivir river, facing a marine gulf surrounded by lands of high agricultural potential. Other reasons, however, must have accounted for Valencina's growth as a mega-site, including particularly demographic and economic ones. In order to better understand the demographic and subsistence patterns of the communities that lived and/or frequented Valencina, we analysed 29 human and 7 faunal samples for δ 18 O and δ 13 C isotope analyses. The sampling strategy followed is based on a combination of bone and dental tissues. In addition an intra-tooth study was also carried out to observe intra-individual seasonal changes. Overall, this evidence contributes to the study of diet and mobility patterns, which can in turn provide insights of the demography and economy of the communities that used this mega-site. "

A new finding of schematic rock art located in a small rock shelter at the headwaters of the Genil River is presented. These cave paintings represent an important contribution to the knowledge of the schematic phenomenon and its development in the surroundings of the Vega of Granada. This article provides a description of the finding, the eographical and geomorphological features of the shelter where they are located, as well as the characteristics, the painting techniques, style and typology of the motives. The significance of this shelter lays on its localization in a steep and narrow valley, close to the protected National Park of Sierra Nevada. In addition, these cave paintings are the first ones to have been discovered in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula where a previous preparation of the panel by applying a layer of highly diluted ochre has been documented.

The cave of Virués and Martínez is an exceptional recent discovery by members of the Iliberis Speleological Club (Grupo Espeleológico Ilíberis). The cave was found in the midst of wider prospecting activities in Sierra Elvira (Granada, southern Spain). A range of archaeological materials had been found inside the cave including human bones, pottery and flint tools. Preliminary analyses date back these materials towards the end of the IV Millennium BC. Most of the pottery and lithic pieces were complete and arranged as they were first laid around the cave by the prehistoric communities. The primary use of the cave might have been as a burial. The ensuing multidisciplinary project that followed the discovery joins the efforts of archaeologists, speleologists and specialists from various scientific backgrounds all inspired by the preservation, study, and dissemination of the speleological archaeological heritage.

"This paper presents the results of the bioarchaeological analysis of La Pijotilla Tomb 3, which combines the application of standard methods in osteology and paleopathological analysis with the study of the funerary context. La Pijotilla is one of the most extensive Copper Age (c. 3200-2200 cal BC) settlements in Iberia, presenting a funerary complex with one of the largest human bone deposits available for the period, of which Tomb 3 is a prime example. The human bone collection from Tomb 3 at La Pijotilla was commingled and highly fragmented, in spite of which each bone fragment and tooth was classified. The resulting MNI was 178 individuals, based on the analysis of 283,329 human bone and tooth fragments. An equal distribution of adult individuals by sex was identified, and most of the bone and tooth fragments corresponded to adult individuals, with little representation of subadults. The non-metric traits present suggested similarities with other prehistoric populations of the Spanish south-west."

In this research work, it present a typological classification and a decorative study about pottery of Early Copper (2600-2000 a.C.) from the 1991-1994 excavation campaigns of the archaeological site of Los Castillejos (Montefrío, Granada). To perform the typological groupings we have applied multivariate statistical techniques, such as Principal Component Analysis (PCA). From the results obtained, it has been possible to establish a total of 15 typological groups, with 31 different types of pottery forms. Also, we have been able to determine the predominant decorative techniques and approach to the relation between form and functionality of the containers.

Most of the pathologies were related to joint and dental diseases, such as calculus and linear enamel hypoplasia.
