The subject of this paper is an examination of the connection between the most quoted and widely used indexes of the e-government and e-participation presented by the United Nations and the actual use of basic e-government activites of inviduals (as a part of the electronic participation) in the European Union. My main question is the following: could the UN's mostly infrastructural readiness-based indexes tell us anything about the actual level of goverment-to-citizen interactions? In this paper my primary goal is to answer the question above.

Background: Adverse temperature recording in vaccine’s cold chain is a major issue worldwide and this condition is known to compromise the quality of vaccines very rapidly. In Cameroon, with tropical climate, vaccines exposure to abnormal temperatures is very common. This study was conducted to identify factors associated to abnormal tem-perature recording in cold chain in the North West region. Results: A total of 65 vaccinating health facilities were visited for the study from eight health districts. Concerning type of health facility, 48 (73.8%) of the health facilities were governmental facilities. About 50 (76.0%) of the facilities had a functional thermometer. Among the 50 health facilities with functional thermometer, abnormal temperatures were registered in 10 (20%) health facilities during data collection and 12 (24%) in the 2 months preceding collection. Factor significantly associated with abnormal temperature recording was the absence of an alternative power source (OR =...

<p>(A) PCH6 patient fibroblasts were sensitive to ferroptosis induced by BSO-mediated GSH depletion in the presence of varying concentrations of added iron(III) citrate (FeC). Viability relative to untreated control wells was measured by Calcein AM assay 48 h after BSO treatment. (B) EPI-743 treatment dose-dependently prevented FeC/BSO-induced ferroptosis in PCH6 patient fibroblasts. Mean ± SEM (N = 3) along with best-fit 4-parameter curve fits displayed; representative of two independent experiments. The Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region has had a long history of civil wars with significant political, social, and economic consequences. The Syrian civil war that began at the time of the Arab Spring in 2011 has affected neighboring countries, and the greater region in many ways. Although some attention has been given to the human catastrophe that the war has inflicted, especially with respect to refugees, little attention has been given to its economic impact on neighboring countries. This research will analyze how the Syrian civil war has affected the economy of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. As Syria's southern neighbor, Jordan's economy was challenged in significant ways: the country received a substantial number of Syrian refugees, its main trade route was largely eliminated, and it engaged in significant military activity to protect itself from several direct Syrian-related military threats. The research focus was to better understand the burden the neighboring war posed to the Jordanian economy. To address this, the study employed the economic performance index (EPI) to examine Jordan's overall economic performance before and after war. It assessed the impact of regional instability on Jordan's trade flow by calculating the annual percentage change in importation and exportation. This study found that the civil war has negatively affected the overall performance of the Jordanian economy and trade. The results indicated that the Jordanian economy performed better before the Syrian civil war. The analysis revealed that the Jordanian economy experienced an increase in the rates of inflation and unemployment, as well as surging governmental deficits and declining investments and gross domestic product (GDP) growth as a result of the civil war in Syria. The macroeconomics analysis reveals the level to which the Jordanian economy has been affected by the civil war and raises valuable lessons for economic policy.

Both in a national and global context, it is challenging to identify key conditions for the integration of sustainable tourism in public policy. By studying a number of recent planning processes pertaining to tourism development, this article aims to contribute recent insight into how sustainability may be integrated into tourism planning. The study was motivated by a publicized shift in the Norwegian government policy strategy on sustainable tourism, from a sector approach to an integration approach. Through case analysis, the concept of environmental policy integration is applied. Findings show that sustainable tourism is partially integrated in all cases and three key issues are outlined. First, although Norway is characterized by a high degree of sector organization, it has a weak structure for overall tourism policy integration. Second, the integration of sustainable tourism has been stimulated by national horizontal integration, bottom-up integration prepared by institutional changes, public participation, and by active use of the municipal system of planning. Third, this study could not find any evidence for the announced shift from a sector approach to an integrated approach to sustainable tourism.

Purpose
Simultaneous multi-slice (SMS) echo planar imaging (EPI) is incorporated into two-dimensional (2D) arterial spin labeling (ASL) imaging to produce more slices for measuring perfusion in a larger region of the brain than currently possible with multi-slice EPI. Methods
Pulsed ASL (PASL) preparations using FAIR and QUIPSS II techniques were combined with SMS-EPI. Testing was performed in four subjects at 3 Tesla. Multiband slice acceleration factors (MB) from MB-2 to MB-5 using 40 averages were evaluated. Comparisons were made quantitatively to PASL 2D EPI and qualitatively to PASL 3D GRASE. Results
In the 12 slice data set, spatial SNR for the perfusion weighted images averaged across subjects was 3.28 and 3.44 for the two sequential MB-1 acquisitions as control comparison, 3.25 for MB-2 and 2.98 for MB-3. The temporal SNR averaged 1.01 and 0.99 for MB-1, 0.89 for MB-2, and 0.78 for MB-3. For whole-brain spatial coverage, the 20 slice data sets could be acquired in narrower time windows, from 874 ms using EPI (MB-1) down to 196 ms using MB-5. SMS-EPI ASL differed from 3D GRASE ASL, which can use background suppression and has less susceptibility artifact as a CPMG SE sequence. Conclusion
SMS-EPI has a major advantage over EPI-based ASL imaging by increasing slice coverage without lengthening the acquisition time window.

We present a novel method for correction of geometric distortions arising from susceptibility artefacts in echo- planar MRI images that combines fieldmap and an image registration based correction technique in a unified framework. The geometric distortions arising from these artefacts lead to inaccurate alignment of images from different MRI techniques and hinders their joint analysis. A novel phase unwrapping algorithm is presented that can efficiently compute the B0 field inhomogeneity map as well as the confidence associated with the estimated solution. This information is used to adaptively drive a subsequent image registration step to further refine the results in low-confidence areas. The effectiveness of the proposed unified algorithm in correcting for geometric distortions due to susceptibility artefacts is demonstrated on interventional MRI EPI images.
