Настоящая, вторая книга «Философии и теории истории» посвящена широкому тема-тическому спектру: от фундаментальных проблем социальной онтологии и исторической динамики до детального анализа событийного слоя отдельных кризисов и революций. Выделены основные сдвиги в современном социально-историческом познании, сфор-мулированы соответствующие принципы. Выстроен концептуальный мост между уровнями макро-и микро-(structure и agency) с учетом их динамики и взаимовлияния. Построена об-щая теория трансформации политических отношений и режимов с приложением к динамике разнообразных неопатримониальных режимов. Главная идея книги-порядок в беспорядке-состоит в утверждении значимости универсальных закономерностей социального взаимодействия, свойств сознания и поведе-ния людей в самых острых кризисах, жестоких конфликтах и бурных революциях, которые обычно принято считать «иррациональной стихией» и «хаосом». С этих позиций проанализирована роль разного типа революций и революционных волн в контексте гуманистической версии смысла мировой истории в пяти автономных про-цессах модернизации. Особое внимание уделено причинам назревания кризисов и револю-ционных ситуаций, закономерностям государственного распада, механизмам конфликтной динамики, взаимосвязи макро-, мезо-, и микропроцессов в революционные периоды на ма-териале Большой Русской революции (1905-1930 гг.), хода политических конфликтов 1917 г., переломных дней Февраля в Петрограде и Евромайдана в Киеве, а также сравнения распадов Российской империи и Югославии. Обоснованы принципы и критерии легитимно-сти постреволюционных режимов. В приложениях рассмотрены причины и пределы ускорения истории, возможности приложения макросоциологических теорий Р. Коллинза к истории России, ее современной политике и перспективам. Проблема ускорения истории рассматривается не в традиционном ключе численной
экстраполяции, а через теоретический анализ причинных механизмов, взаимосвязь с известными
трендами социальной эволюции. Выделены факторы, способствующие появлению таких
инноваций: 1) наличие спроса на инновацию; 2) концентрация творческих индивидов и групп,
конкуренция между ними; 3) пересечение нескольких, ранее автономных творческих сетей;
4) социальные условия для выживания инновации, отсутствие или слабость факторов подавления;
5) достаточная широта и плотность коммуникаций для диффузии. Определены факторы более
глубокого слоя причинности. Проведена эскизная проверка на ярких случаях мировой истории с
высоким уровнем творчества и инноваций, последующих выигрышей в доминировании.
Рассмотрены основные линии модернизации по Р.Коллинзу — секуляризация, бюрократизация,
капиталистическая индустриализация, демократизация, — а также роль глобализации и войны в
аспекте ускорения истории. Показано, что некоторые факторы прекратили действие, другие
способствуют, скорее, поляризации между обществами.

In the “calamitous” 14th century, as Barbara Tuchman called it in her classic „A Distant Mirror“ (1978) , the medieval world entered a period of severe crisis in demography, economy, politics and religion. This crisis took hold in all regions, ranging from China in the East to England in the West. Even before the catastrophic pandemic of the Black Death (1346-1352), deteriorating climatic conditions had ended the period of demographic and economic expansion that began in the 10th century.
The local and regional impacts and consequences of these general potentially crisis-laden conditions may have differed; outcomes ranged from actual societal collapse to the emergence of powerful new polities – while Byzantium´s power dwindled away, Hungary entered a period of strong rulership and external power in the reign of Louis I of Anjou (1342-1382), for instance. But these conditions provide a framework for global perspective on this period and allow us to use the 14th century-crisis as a field of “natural experiments of history”, as Jared Diamond and James A. Robinson have called them ; accordingly, we analyse how similar crisis phenomena influenced the development of societies with different (or similar) traditions, religions, institutions, geographies or ecologies.
In order to be able to capture the local variations and complexities, we adopt concepts and tools provided by the field of complexity science. Mono-causal or linear explanations are inadequate for the analysis and the description of crisis, transformation or collapse of pre-modern polities. Within this framework, complex systems are understood as large networks of individual components, whose interactions at the microscopic level produce “complex” changing patterns of behaviour of the whole system on the macroscopic level. In the last decades, historians and social scientists who became interested in complexity theory tried to use its concepts and terminology for the conceptualisation and description of phenomena in their own fields, but often only in a “metaphoric” way. Less frequently, though, historians have tried to make use of the mathematical foundations of complexity theory or of quantitative tools provided by this field. Recent scholarship has implemented some of these tools especially for the construction of macro-models of socio-economic development. While these studies help us construct analytical tools for the macro-level of our own research, they run the same risk as earlier scholarship of neglecting complex variations at the local and regional levels.
Therefore, we combine complexity theory with the analytical framework of „systems theory“ developed by the German sociologist Niklas Luhmann in order to capture the interveawements between politics, economy and religion within a polity and with the political, economic and ecological environment. In addition, we employ the methods and tools of network analysis, which allow us to capture, analyse and model linkages and cause-effect correlations in society, economy, politics and religion on the macro- and micro-level down to groups and individuals.
Overall, as a complement to earlier studies our analytical
approach shall allow us to capture the “diversité véritable” of our period without losing track of essential commonalities (the “strange parallels”, as Victor Liebermann has called them in his remarkable study on Southeast Asia in Global Context, 2009 ) of this “first world crisis” across all cultures and societies. The scientic value of this approach will be demonstrated for some specific cases.

This study analyzed the interactions among a set of ecosystem services (ES) and derived ES bundles in the Headwaters of Coal River West Virginia (WV), in the Central Appalachians, an area historically characterized by surface mining and coal extraction. ES were modeled using the InVEST system, while a custom model was used to link water quality to freshwater ES, deriving information at two different spatial scales based on hydrologic units. High-resolution remote sensing data (1–2 m resolution) were used to incorporate historical information from land-cover (LC) transitions since 1976 to differentiate reclamation processes and characterize the forest class. Consistent ES tradeoffs were confirmed in areas characterized by surface mining processes that reported significant losses of carbon sequestration, habitat quality , and freshwater ES. The interaction of complex anthropogenic processes within the specific landscape led to the definition of different ES bundles, characterized not only by coal mining processes but also by the distribution of settlements and developed areas. The utilization of relatively small hydrologic catchments (1–25 km2), the comparison with a more extensive set of spatial units, and the inclusion of high-resolution data with multiple LC classes that included historical information, allowed the authors to infer knowledge about the interactions between ES changes and their drivers in the study area. The results can be used to implement conservation, as well as development-restoration strategies, by including ES assessments to promote a more sustainable land management approach in the rural-mining region of Central Appalachians and support future alternatives to extractive economies.

Socio-political history of Russia is characterized by well-known cycles with the most frequent pattern (a circular dynamics): a repetition of three phases " stagnation→crisis→authoritarian rollback ". The first model includes two actors: ruler with strategies of repressive coercion and conservatism, and elite with strategies of honest service and corruption. The main effect of elite's strategies is the level of so called resource balance (between state, elite, and people). Repressive coercion switches on the elite's honest service that provides normal level of balance. In these conditions ruler's strategy switches to conservation and elite's strategy becomes corruption which decreases the resource balance. Then the social-economic and/or geopolitical crisis and instability begins. It turns to new authoritarian rollback when new pair of ruler and elite start again their strategies of repressive coercion and honest service. Other models represent various versions of complication of this simple scheme. The model components are compared with the specifics of Russian mentality given in such oppositions as " ours/alien " , " high serfdom/low profit " , " order/freedom ". The dynamic view enables us to pose questions about the conditions under which these crises may develop and be resolved in various ways, including the conditions under which the alienated, irresponsible, and repressive character of " Russian state power " may be overcome. The question is whether social groups that do not accept these features of the regime will be able to acquire a new worldview or platform (once again, a system of frames and symbols) for consolidating their forces, surpass the critical level of social support, and on this basis accomplish — through a series of impressive ritual acts and practices — a peaceful institutional revolution, a breakthrough to authentic democracy, a new pattern of sociopolitical dynamics, and a new logic of Russian history.

Социально-политические кризисы и социальные революции являются важнейшими фазами исторической динамики, продвигающими общества к более высоким или более низким ступеням политической и социальной эволюции. Даны и обоснованы определения кризисов и революций, показаны их место и роль в
универсальной модели исторической динамики. Представлены главные структурные варианты следствий этих конфликтных периодов (преодоление кризиса, революция без свержения власти, революция со свержением власти, революция с распадом государственности и базовых социальных порядков) и основные условия выбора пути в этих исторических развилках.

Socio-political crises and social revolutions are the most important phases of historical
dynamics/ They promote societies to higher or lower levels of political and social evolution. The definitions of crises and revolutions are given and justified, their place and role in the universal model of historical dynamics are shown. The main structural variants of the consequences are overcoming the crisis, revolution without the overthrow of power, revolution with the overthrow of power, revolution with the collapse of statehood, and basic social orders. The basic conditions for choosing the path in these historical forks are presented.

В статье представлен эскиз охватывающей парадигмы исторической динамики в форме
теоретического объяснения диаметрально противоположных векторов развития – расцветов и
распадов обществ – через действие базовых человеческих потребностей, закономерностей, механизмов формирования и изменения социальных отношений и структур, психических установок и
габитусов, культурных образцов. Соответствующая фазовая модель включает негативные вызовы
(ущерб, угроза); позитивные вызовы (открывающиеся возможности); разные типы ответных стратегий (паттерн доверия и паттерн отчуждения); начальные и сопутствующие условия, которые
либо подкрепляют, либо тормозят, подрывают эти паттерны. Данная понятийная конструкция, не
будучи теорией, соединяет множество измерений социально-исторического познания, устанавливает связи между уже имеющимися и потенциальными теориями социальных и исторических изменений, то есть имеет статус охватывающей парадигмы.

Русская революция в широком смысле (с предысторией 1905-1907 гг. и до становления сталинского режима в конце 1920-х годов) рассматривается в контексте пяти автономных процессов модернизации обществ: секуляризации, роста творческой свободы в культуре, бюрократизации, капиталистической индустриализации и демократизации. Сформулированы общие связи между этими процессами и характером революций в таких аспектах как уровень насилия, успех революции (смена власти, существенные уступки) или ее провал (победа реакции), а также тип и тенденции развития постреволюционного режима. Показано, как проявляются эти связи в случае Русской революции и чем обусловлена специфика ее траектории. Революция привела к однобокой «модернизации»: благодаря социалистической индустриализации и бюрократизации (становлению «номенклатуры») советское государство значительно усилилось, что стало фактором последующих успехов: триумфа 1945 г. и достижения статуса сверхдержавы. Однако в аспектах секуляризации, творческой свободы и демократии произошла контрмодернизация, с чем связаны непрочность модернизационных достижений: ослабление и распад советского государства, турбулентность последующего развития России, соскальзывание бюрократии к неопатримониализму, торможение и свертывание постперестроечной демократизации, утрата передовых позиций в науке и образовании, негласное возвращение цензуры в культурном творчестве, десекуляризация как замена принудительного атеизма полупринудительным православием.

Abstract. Russian revolution in the broadest sense (from its prehistory in 1905-1907 to the Stalinist regime formation in the late 1920s) is considered in the context of several autonomous modernization processes (according to Randall Collins): secularization, growth of creative freedom in culture, bureaucratization, capitalist industrialization, and democratization. General links are formulated between these processes and revolutions in such aspects as the level of violence, the revolutionary success (change of power, significant concessions) or failure (when reaction wins), as well as the type of development trends of post-revolutionary regimes. True modernization usually leads to growth of economic, political and creative freedom, it strengthens a state in the aspects of resources, political and military power, prosperity and management. Russian revolutionary way was ambiguous. The Revolution led to one-sided modernization that later turned out to be counter-modernization. Initial progress after the February 1917 to democracy and collegial division of power led finally to Stalinism as one of the most brutal forms of totalitarianism. The "under-capitalist" industrialization and the Tzarist bureaucracy of the old regime were destroyed by the Revolution but then they both revived in forms of the "socialist" Stalinist industrialization and Soviet "nomenclature". These processes have strengthened the totalitarian and aggressive state of USSR with its later triumph of the victory in 1945 and formation of a superpower with several socialist satellites. However, in the aspects of secularity, creative freedom and democracy the counter-modernization occurred which caused fragility of this state success, turbulence of further development, recent slip to deindustrialization in national economy, neopatrimonialism as a decay of state bureaucracy, growth of censorship and desecularization in culture.
