Are you living in the pastoral fast lane and need to take a slower route, a deeper path? This comprehensive book report on Donald Whitney's Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life Colorado Springs: NavPress, 1991 Whitney explores the classic practices of Christians by describing how he and others approach life in Christ in a deeper and more meaningful way. Prayer, Fasting, and Bible meditation are at the core of the book. Worship, Evangelism, Service, Solitude and silence, and Journaling are given good attention. Each of these are approached with joy and love for God not as a mean of working for salvation but appreciation for all God has done for us in Jesus. "Come and follow Me and I WILL MAKE YOU fishers of men." It is Jesus who makes us through his slow and meaningful process of discipleship into the highest calling of reaching real people for him and WITH HIM.
