The Internet in 2008 was an essential tool to wage the democratic primary campaign and then the presidential campaign. Only one candidate used that tool to its utmost power, probably thanks to Chris Hughes, one of the co-founders of Facebook, who joined the team to help with their communication. We have seen the virtual style of this Internet campaign in its segment targeting the supporters is original and, though I have only used the two referee texts for the salutations, I could have shown how original it is with the other elements when compared with the wordy, if not verbose, style of Michael Moore, and the dry but very argumentative and altogether intellectual style of Avaaz.org. We can consider that this campaign and this style and their efficiency are the “proof of Marshall McLuhan’s pudding”.
