Taking into account the ubiquity of the Internet and social networking platforms, and the fact that younger generations are spending an ever increasing amount of time using contemporary communication technology, this article focuses on those recruitment methods that make use of social networking platforms and mobile applications for the spread of extremist propaganda, as well as for communication with potential adherents. An analysis of the age structure of individuals involved in the planning and carrying out of terrorist acts in Europe from November of 2015 to September of 2017 supports a hypothesis that contemporary recruitment methods are especially effective in targeting a younger demographic. In addition, this article negates the importance of traditional physical exposure to radical behavior, which serves to explain the increasing numb...

So much for the Islamist “Lone Wolf” nonsense. ISIS propaganda is finally getting some attention. Even the New York Times published an op-ed asking “Why Tolerate Terrorist Publications?” citing “Patrick Henry’s famous liberty-or-death choice “in the short run, one cannot enjoy freedom of speech, freedom to worship, freedom of the press unless one first enjoys the freedom to live.” Yet, we let the Islamist abuse Americans right to free expression to incite their followers to shut us up for good...

Several businesses are now grappling with the need to recruit, select and retain fresh talent. Finding good people is becoming so difficult these days that one HR director said “losing people should be a criminal offence”. The cost of not retaining an employee is almost 250% the person’s annual salary. There is no one panacea for retaining people. Blanket solutions to individual needs tend to backfire. In contrast to their grandparents, employees in the new millennium do not stay with a company for life. A more tailored yet strategic approach is most appropriate to the management of recruitment, selection and retention. This book has been inscribed in a way that it covers just about every aspect of Recruitment, Selection and Retention. The book not only discusses the old notions but also sheds light on the new concepts such as Generation X, Rank and Yank Approach, employment laws and most importantly the unsung aspect of Retention – the catalyst for competitive advantage. This book features diagrammatic illustrations of almost all the topics hence allowing the readers to have a comprehensive understanding of the whole topic in a single glance.
