This article attempts to revisit the problem of Foucauldian critique of Marxist notion of “ideology” from the point of view—already taken by a series of interpreters—of what the status of Foucault’s own discourse could be, once the claim of unmasking false representations has been abandoned. In particular, it will discuss Lee Braver’s proposal that, although the notion of “truth” should be understood entirely in terms of the facticity of a “regime of truth”, this would not imply, nonetheless, a self-refutation of Foucauldian discourse.
