Roman literature during the period 1st century BC – 1st century AD expresses the assimilation of book as a physical object containing the result of a creative and intellectual effort. Latin poetry shows how the papyrus ‘volumen’ constitutes a hardware for the transmission of works and writers. The following lines, focused on Ovid, describes the sheer contrast between his erotic works and his exile poetry; based on the deep shift experienced by the ‘libellus’. In other words, the ‘libellus’ is a «thermometer» of Ovid’s state of mind.

Öz: 235 yılında Maximinus Thrax ile başlayan ve 284'te Diocletian'a kadar devam eden Üçüncü Yüzyıl Krizi dönemi, Roma İmparatorluğu için siyasi, askeri, dini, sosyal ve ekonomik değişimlerin yaşandığı bir dönem olmuştur. Pagan inanca sahip imparatorlukta Hristiyanlığın yayılım alanının genişlemesi, imparatorlar tarafından Hristiyanlık karşıtı politikaların yürütülmesine yol açmıştır. Hristiyanlık karşıtı faaliyetleriyle tanınan imparator Decius, 249-251 yılları arasında hüküm sürmüştür. Bu döneme kadar Hristiyanlara karşı bölgesel uygulanan yaptırımlar Decius ile birlikte imparatorluk genelinde ilk kez resmi bir bildiri ile uygulanmıştır. Decius'un Hristiyanlık karşıtı faaliyetlerinin sebebi pagan inancına bağlılığı ve Romalılık düşüncesidir. Hristiyanların imparatorluk genelinde misyonerlik faaliyetleri yürütmeleri yaptırımlara maruz kalmalarına neden olmuştur. Bu çalışmada Decius'un Hristiyanlara uyguladığı yaptırımların nedenleri, bu amaçla yayınladığı bildiri ve gelişen olaylar incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Abstract: The Crisis of Third Century, which started with Maximinus Thrax in 235 and continued until Diocletian in 284, was a period of crisis for the Roman Empire in which political, military, religious, social and economic changes took place. The expansion of Christianity in the Roman Empire led to the carried out of anti-Christianity policies by emperors. Emperor Decius, ruled between 249-252 known with his anti-Christianity sanctions. Regional sanctions imposed against Christians until this period were implemented with Decius for the first time with an official declaration throughout the empire. The reasons of Decius' anti-Christianity activities was the idea of being Roman and his pagan belief. Christians' missionary movements throughout the empire caused them exposure to sanctions. In this study, the reasons of the sanctions that Decius applied to Christians, the declarations he published for this purpose and the developing events were be examined.

RESUMEN En el contexto literario tardo-republicano, la poesía de Catulo representó el logro de una madurez creativa que asimiló y transformó las poéticas anteriores en función de una original «política del ritmo»; asimismo la importancia del labor catuliano radica en la construcción de un libro a través del cual confirió entidad real a sus obras al contenerlas en un medio físico al que llamó libellus. Esta idea del «artefacto textual» como instrumento de representación de la experiencia poética es la que reaparece entre los autores tardoantiguos, particularmente en el poeta galo-romano Décimo Ausonio (s. IV d. C.), en quien se advierte la preocupación por reflexionar acerca de elementos metaliterarios y programáticos, extrapolados muchos de ellos de los carmina de Catulo. ABSTRACT «Catullian Echoes in the Late Ancient Poetry: The Case of Ausonius». In the late-republican literary context, the poetry of Catullus represents the achievement of a creative maturity that assimilated and transformed the previous poetics based on an original «policy of the rhythm». Additionally, the importance of the catullian work lies in the building of a book by which he gave real entity to his works in order to hold them in a physical format which he called libellus. This idea of «textual artifact» as an instrument of representation of the poetic experience reappears among late antiquity authors, particularly in the Gallo-Roman poet Ausonius Decimus (s. IV a. C.), in whom the concern is warned by reflecting around the metaliterary and programmatic elements, extrapolated many of Catullus' Carmina.
