This paper critically analyses 199 peer-reviewed articles published in Sankhyā during 2003 to 2007. It examines authorship pattern, collaboration trend among authors, predominant areas of statistical research, and time lag in publications. Subsequent analysis focuses on prolific
contributors, degree of collaboration, collaboration density, active sub-domains of statistics and time lag trend. Findings reveal the following: (a) the number of articles reduced from 24.6% to 14.0% that conforms to the growth trend of statistical publications in India; (b) single-authored paper counts only 30%, the rest in collaboration either by two-authors (47%) or three-to-five authors (23%) and average authorship accounts for 1.96 per paper; (c) contributors of Sankhyā worked in highly collaborative manner and the degree of collaboration (CC=0.698) is quite significant; and (d) most of the bilateral and multilateral collaborations has emanated from 12 institutions of 5 different countries. Ranked list of prolific authors has been carried out using fractional counting method. It is observed that author productivity is not in agreement with Lotka’s law, but productivity distribution data partially fits the law when the value of a approximated to 2.77 and the number of papers does not exceed two. Broad subject clusters, such as statistics (153)
and probability theory (38) constituted about 96% of the contributed articles. Nonparametric inference (18%), parametric inference (15%), design of experiments (10%) and multivariate analysis (8%) are found to be active areas of research in Statistics. The study shows an average time lag of fifteen months to publish an article, and a declining trend of time lags following second-degree polynomial type has been observed in this scholarly journal.

The library environment is currently undergoing a rapid and dynamic revolution leading to new generation of libraries with the emphasis one-resources. In this era of information explosion E-resources are inevitable to support education, research and development of universities. So many of the libraries in India especially university libraries have started providing access to more and more e-resources for supporting educational and research programs. The universities in Kerala also adapted to these new ICT developments and increased the access to e-resources. This study helps to find out the electronic resources and the pattern of organization of electronic sources in the universities in Kerala. The present study point out that even though the library consortium provides a wide range of e-resources in different subjects, university libraries in Kerala due to the limitations of library consortiums are forced to subscribe online databases of E-journals, E-books and Electronic Thesis and Dissertations directly.

___________________________________________________________________________ Abstract Library website is the mirror of an institution. It is the best way of expressing what an organization believes by reflecting the organization's mission and vision to its users. This paper describes the live project towards the design & development of a new user-centered, IIT Jammu website using the content management system "WordPress." The main objective of developing this pilot project is to study and explore the features of the academic library website as well as experience of the flexibility and agility of open source Content Management Software. Since it is the newly established institute library and day by day student strengths are increasing, designing the website will help the patron to find the desired information without wasting time for searching the information at the different platforms.

No library resource center of the world is self-sufficient to meet the various information needs of the users. With the rapid growth of publications, knowledge explosion, shrinking resources, escalation of prices and ever-increasing expectations of users compelled the library and information centers to go for networking for resource sharing. The most important goal networking is to maximize the availability of resources & services at minimum expenses. Keeping in view the above points in mind the paper briefly mentions about networking and briefly mentions different library networks available in India. It further explains the need of the INDOLIBNET and objectives of networking among the libraries and information centres in North East India. Further, it enumerates issues involved in establishing such network; point out the constraints & finally the author has given the suggestions for the success of such networks. INTORDUCTION " Knowledge should be available to all as Universally as the air we breathe, The water that quenches thirst and the Sun's Energy that sustains the cycle of life " Sri Chilakamarthi Laxminarasimharm's Granthalaya Vedam (miniature manifesto) Library & Information Professionals are fully aware of the phenomenon of ever increasing trend in the cost of books and periodicals. On the other hand, library budgets have been going through a stage of stringency for the last few years. As a result, libraries are struggling for continuation of current periodicals and purchase of new books. The academic institutions can cope with this problem only by networking and resource sharing.

This chapter discusses the different aspects of cooperation and collaboration initiatives for libraries that includes associated opportunities, issues, and challenges. A proposed model for library consortia is depicted to illustrate the benefits that can help institutes to overcome these issues and challenges faced by the libraries for smooth functioning. The proposed cross-resource sharing model may provide an appropriate platform for both institutes and publishers that can enhance the library cooperation and collaboration in a much more effective way by overcoming the fund issues and to enable a suitable platform in improvising the library services. By achieving a successful and appropriate library consortia model, the cooperation and collaboration initiatives for the libraries gives an effective result and better services to its users.

Usage of electronic journal in an academic consortia environment provides us with an interesting result on the pattern of user’s behavior. The paper is an attempt to identify the pattern of users downloading behavior through COUNTER complain usage statistic 2011 by adopting Pareto 80/20 rule. UGC-Infonet consortium is UGC-INFLIBNETinitiative that subscribes to 19 publishers of aggregators, society and commercial publishers. The result of the study indicates that Pareto 80/20 rule applies to publishers whose journal bundles are more in number when individually publishers are analyse. But contrastingly, consolidated usage on all the journals when put together demonstrates a closer 80/20 pattern of usage.

Libraries today are facing increasing demands for services while struggling with challenges such as the rise in the amount of information resources, high cost of library materials, high expectations of users, budget cuts and much more. Today libraries have to face change management, and they are seeking tools to cope with it through developing strategic alliances with other libraries. Library consortia are created to help libraries obtain better prices by buying joint access for a greater number of users, expanding access to print and electronic collections and developing new services to meet their customers' needs.

"Libraries play a key role in the scholarly enterprise by facilitating access of published material to readers and researchers and negotiating with creators and publishers to provide that access. The digital revolution has been paradigm shifting for libraries. Academic libraries have responded to the radical changes and have provided access to more material than ever before but cracks are starting to form. How will libraries continue to meet the demands of shrinking budgets, changing technologies and the constant growth of content? As resources and possible uses change, how should libraries respond? What metrics should be used for evaluation and assessment?
The work of answering these questions is done both at the local level, in individual institutions, and consortially, at the provincial and national levels. An examination of what drives the consortial partnerships and their future directions will consider the place of libraries in the larger scholarly enterprise environment as well as giving insight into our uniquely Canadian academic library partnership situation."

Co-authored with Joan Rapp and Peter G. Underwood. It remains to be seen what impact the recently-formed academic library consortia will have in South Africa, both for our profession or our end-users. They can probably be described as a group of diverse entities, rough and as-yet unsure of their destination. In this descriptive text, we attempt to outline the specifics which distinguish the developing consortia in a newly democratic and newly globalised South Africa from those in other more economically advantaged parts of the world. We describe the all-important social and political background in which our institutions must operate, moving on to an analysis of the impulse to cooperate and the obstacles that have emerged to stifle that impulse. In our conclusion we risk some predictions about where academic library consortia may be headed in our part of the world.
