Luo

The Luo Nation is designed to help me learn about the history and culture of The Luos (Joluo); and to speak the Luo language, Dholuo (the mouth of Luos) in basic daily situations rapidly, effectively, and easily. This Conversational phrasebook has 31 topical lessons (accompanied by Audio, DVD), covering everything that I want toknow to understand and speak Dholuo. By reading this book, I will be able to introduce myself, get help in an emergency; shop; order in a restaurant; communicate in the office, talk about myself and family and even discuss literature, politics and public affairs.

Each topic in the book is written in the format of Conversational Phrases; followed by Vocabulary. For instance, the topic of greetings will have basic conversational phrases used in greetings, followed by the vocabulary in the greetings. I will not waste my time just learning vocabulary and grammar. If I am going to learn Dholuo, or any other language for that matter, I HAVE to speak it. The motto is “Listen, Repeat, and Speak Dholuo.”

This paper describes and performance an adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) based energy management system (EMS) of a grid-connected hybrid system for smart grid application. The hybrid system consists of wind turbine (WT) and solar photovoltaic (PV) panels as a primary energy sources. The rectified wind output and solar panel output is given to LUO converter for boost up the DC voltage in order to connect them to a central DC grid. Then, the power has taken from the DC grid and it is given to the AC smart grid system through H-bridge inverter. The smart grid system consists of new bidirectional intelligent semiconductor transformer (BIST), high frequency ac-dc rectifier and low voltage dc-dc converter hybrid switching dc-ac converter. The smart grid system satisfied the load requirement and in case if the demand is low it will return the excess power to the grid also. On the whole, this proposed system utilizes the best use of solar and wind energy system so that the power can be generated at any time and satisfied the load demand.

There will always be families, well organised families that consolidate economic power, then load it over men, and give unto themselves titles, such as ‘chiefs, paramount chief, representatives of the tribe’; and these families, always, relegate themselves as ‘blue-blooded’, chosen of the gods, favored amongst men, kings over men, lords of the commons, prefects over natural resources, amongst other flowery and not less perfumed titles, which entrench their rule over the ‘commons’ and perpetuate their (immoral) empires, at the behest of their ‘fellow men’.
Once in a while, a people is awakened from this selective and self-induced amnesia to question the source of their plunder, and if they, by luck escape the wrath of the ‘sleeping’ bull-dog, they may, for a season, share their opinion on why they quench their thirst by the sweat of their brow, and drops of own blood, while their ‘god-appointed’ tribal rulers insanely amass riches to obnoxious bounds.
This is a book-product of such introspection, a question seeking answers; a riddle seeking solution; and an African story seeking completion.
As we read, may we grow (in knowledge and understanding), as tall as the blue gum tree at our uncle’s home!

DC-DC converters are devices which convert direct current (DC) from one voltage level to another by changing the duty cycle of the main switches in the circuits. These converters are widely used in switched mode power supplies and it is important to supply a constant output voltage, regardless of disturbances on the input voltage. In this work, the performance of three different converters such as Single-Ended Primary-Inductance Converter (SEPIC), Luo converter and ZETA converter have been analyzed. Further, the parameters values such as ripple voltage, switching losses and efficiency of the proposed three different converters were compared with each other. Also, the simulation work has been carried out using MATLAB/SIMULINK software. From the comparison of obtained results, it is observed that the ZETA converter has high significance than the SEPIC and Luo converter.

There are two types of spiders, both in the house, and in the forests; in the office, and in the homes; in the church, and in the mosques. One kind of spider is the common spider; the average spider; the GOOD spider. The common spider does what other average common spiders do; it makes the web, and keeps watch at the edge of the web for prey to get caught. The other type of spider is the BEST spider; the rare spider; the aggressive spider.  It does what other common spiders do, that is, making the web, then it does MORE. It goes looking for prey, and drives them towards the web. I will not be a good spider today; I will be the best spider.
