The disappearance of Malaysia Airlines' flight MH370 has been one of the most highly discussed and debated crises in recent times. The situation has put the organisation into the spotlight of global attention both as a business entity and as an extension of the Malaysian government. Drawing on mediating the media model (Pang, 2010) and information processing and knowledge management framework (Coombs, 2012), this study evaluates the air carrier's relationship with the media and online communication strategies during the crucial first two weeks of the crisis. The data were collected from Malaysia Airlines' traditional and new media public relations practices and were analysed using a qualitative case study methodology (Yin, 2009). This study argues that the unfavourable representation of Malaysia Airlines by its media stakeholders was complicated by both controlled and uncontrolled crisis elements ranging from information void to fragile relationship with the press.

The purpose of this academic writing is to Study the Perception of Bachelor of Communication (Hons.) Corporate Communication Students in Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) Shah Alam Towards Crisis Management Handling in Malaysia Airline Berhad (MAB): The Case Study of MH370. This research will be analysed the perception of the future Corporate Communication practitioner based on the three variables which is [1] The Approach Used by Malaysia Airline Berhad (MAB) In Handling MH370 Crisis, [2] The Frequency of Update in Media about MH370 Incidents in Malaysia Airline Berhad (MAB) & [3] The Suitability of Medium Used by Malaysia Airline Berhad (MAB) During the MH370 Crisis Management.

The methodology used in this research paper is in a quantitative method which is in questionnaire form that has been distributed to a sample total of 141 respondents from Bachelor of Communication (Hons.) Corporate Communication population. The data collected then analyzed using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).

This paper examines the effects and expressions of norm compliance in Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the ‘unintended consequences’ arising from such compliance. This is done through an analysis of ASEAN’s responses in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) efforts in the Typhoon Haiyan disaster and in the search for missing flight MH370. It argues that the lethargic ASEAN responses in the Haiyan disaster and the uncoordinated search efforts for missing flight MH370 are unintended outcomes arising from norm adherence specifically to the norms of ‘respect for sovereignty’ and ‘consensual decision-making’ which constrained the range of ASEAN responses.

This paper presents the results of a Two-Way Particle-Tracking Model (PTM) to detect possible crash sites of MH370. The methodology, the algorithms used and the program technical implementation are presented in detail in Eichhorn2016. In contrast to Eichhorn2016, the influence of wind on the particle drift is considered in the simulations for this paper. This paper also examines 31 additional items of debris discovered  on the east coast of Africa and Madagascar and on islands over a time period of 1 1/2 years after the first found on La Réunion on 29 July 2015. The focus of the paper is to show: 1. The influence of the leeway coefficient on the particle tracking simulation. 2. The influences on the results of simulation settings and uncertain information about the date when the debris beached. 3. The plausibility of possible classified crash locations.

Abstract: The transformation of online consumer's behavior is changing landscape of risk and crisis communications. How social media can be a beneficial tool for crisis management? How crisis managers respond to challenges posed by social media? These have become the focus on mobile communication studies. When Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 went missing, the flow of information experienced complexity uncertainty, and ambiguity in terms of information adequacy. The MH370 incident demonstrated an unprecedented international humanitarian response from the technology sector. The authors of this study found that this incident primarily involves attentions from audiences in Malaysia and China respectively. This study attempted to have a deep insight about online users' perceptions towards the portrait of this incident by the social media in Malaysia and China, and it discovered significant difference of user perception of active social media in these two countries. Social networking sites such as Facebook (in Malaysia), Weibo (in China) and Wechat (in China), become the public opinion field that illustrates sorts of openness and negotiation in Malaysia and China. This research, instead of conventional crisis communication approach, specifically examined active online users in both countries. The survey results contributed to mechanism of crisis communication for henceforth similar incident. The study illustrates different level of engagement with the content posted on social media in these two countries. There is no doubt that the portrait of Malaysia Airlines on social media in these two countries affected its organizational reputation. However, the participants from Malaysia and China showed a very average level of confidence to empower themselves to enhance dialog capacity among various stakeholders for this incident.

This paper presents a system based on a Two-Way Particle-Tracking Model to analyze possible crash positions of flight MH370. The particle simulator includes a simple flow simulation of the debris based on a Lagrangian approach and a module to extract appropriated ocean current data from netCDF files. The influence of wind, waves, immersion depth and hydrodynamic behavior are not considered in the simulation.

#PRAYFORMH370: Flight Tragedy with Global Search Record
Dear reader, let’s observe a minute of prayer for the crew and passengers of Malaysia Airline flight MH370 which mysteriously vanished into literally “the unknown” since 8th March, 2015.

After having many sleepless nights and hectic days putting things together for this edition of “Get Involved” magazine to go to press, suddenly a tragedy occurred. It was on the early hours of Saturday morning 8th March, 2014 when some 227 passengers with a 12-member crew of Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Boeing 777-200ER flight MH370, took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) for Beijing, the Chinese capital. In just about an hour after taking off, the flight literally became invisible to the aviation radar, and mysteriously went missing. Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Najib Tun Razak immediately solicited the support of about 26 countries including Australia, Britain, China, India, Indonesia, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates (UAE), United Kingdom (UK) and United States of America (USA). A sea and air convoy from those countries embarked on what has been so far the biggest search and rescue (SAR) operation in the history of aviation in the world. Huge resources which comprised not less than 22 aircraft, 6 helicopters and 19 ships have so far been mobilized by the good-Samaritan-countries to help the Malaysian Government in the search for the missing airliner. It’s now nearly one month since the SAR operations have been going on in the vast seas, oceans and continental Asia without any trace of MH370. Although Australian, Chinese, French and Thai satellites have lately picked pictures of images in the remotest parts of southern Indian Ocean thought to be debris of the missing aircraft, followed, lately by search for the flight data recorder popularly known as the black box, search is still going on inconclusively.
Since the day the news of the tragic incidence was broken by the media, this tag: #PrayforMH370 or just #MH370 became one of the most trending hash tags on Twitter in Malaysia. Prayer sessions have been held by the Government and people of Malaysia for the recovery of the missing jet with 239 souls on board. Among about six nationals on the plane, about 152 of the passengers were Chinese with about a dozen of Malaysians, a few Americans and Indians, etc.

The editorial board therefore wishes to, on behalf of the entire UPMISA officials and indeed the entire international students’ community of UPM, extends its sincere and heart-felt sympathy to the families and loved ones of the passengers and crew on board MAS flight MH370. We hope that, as painful as the situation is, they would be able to endure the tragedy with great fortitude and sense of responsibility while, at the same time, rendering their support to the Malaysian Government in its unrelenting efforts of searching for the whereabouts of the missing aircraft carrying their loved ones on board. We also wish to sympathize with the Malaysian Government and, by and large, the management of UPM over this sad incident. Please accept the highest assurances of our humble selves in sharing with you the pains and grief of this mysterious tragedy while we keep the flames of the candles of hope burning.

Abstract: The MH370 incident demonstrated an unprecedented international humanitarian response from the technology sector. This study attempted to have a deep insight about online users' perceptions towards the portrait of this incident by the social media in Malaysia and China. Social networking sites such as Facebook (in Malaysia), Weibo (in China) and Wechat (in China), become the public opinion field that illustrates sorts of openness and negotiation in Malaysia and China. This study argued the technical and social knowledge to work with social media represents a steep learning curve for crisis managers who are used to working with traditional new media, as there is a significant relationship between empowerment of social media and effectiveness of crisis communication. The result of survey indicated different level of engagement with the content posted on social media in these two countries. This study proposes social media strategies that will be an integral part of any organization's plan to respond to an accident or major incident.
