Mysticims

Mysticism is " a constellation of distinctive practices, discourses, texts, institutions, traditions, and experiences aimed at human transformation, variously defined in different traditions ". Mysticism categorically lacks an authority and anything and everything that is related to God is put under the term mysticism. An analysis of words and ideas reveals that it is the love for " nature " and " God " that made Tagore enters the realm of mysticism. However, his mystical experiences are quite different from those of the experiences of enlightened saints of India. Saints " mysticism is a result of the union achieved through deep meditation, but in Tagore " s case it is only love and desire for the union. As a result of this, his Gitanjali can be considered as " Nature Mysticism " rather than Soul or God Mysticism only which enlightened saints and poets like Kalidasa or Auribindo can achieve. Introduction Rabindranath Tagore is to know the essence of Indian artistic traditions, to understand a great man who becomes a " cultural hero " and " an international figure. " This research paper focuses on Gitanjali which is classified under mystic poetry. The endeavor here is to look for the mystical elements in Gitanjali and how it qualifies to be a mystical poetry. Tagore is an unofficial ambassador to the world and he put India on the literary map of the world. To appreciate him fully, it is essential to note the quality and beauty of his mastery of English language that made him a renowned writer. He belonged to the whole world being " a darling of versatility ". He is a poet who first gained for modern India a place on the world literary scene.

Resumo Martinho Lutero é, inegavelmente, um marco histórico no que se refere às relações modernas entre o homem e Deus. Crítico, reformador, mas também integrado a uma tradição textual, seu pensamento estabeleceu rupturas profundas frente à tradição católica sem, no entanto, diluir todas as margens possíveis de diálogo e aproximações. Para este nosso artigo, partimos do pressuposto de que entre Lutero e a mística renana, em particular o pensamento de J. Tauler, encontram-se afinidades teórico-existenciais que permitem pensarmos na possibilidade de uma concepção de fé estruturada na ideia de esvaziamento ou desprendimento que permite, sem negar o mundo, a construção de um espaço de experiência divino-humana que se dá, eminentemente, como um habitar de Deus que, enquanto tal, é liberdade absoluta. Para tanto, nos deteremos, de modo mais específico, nas obras de Lutero Da liberdade do Cristão e Comentário à Carta de Paulo aos Romanos, contrastando-as com os Sermões de Tauler. Palavras-Chaves: Fé. Lutero. Mística. Reforma. Tauler. Abstract Martin Luther is undeniably a historic landmark in the modern relations between man and God. Critic, reformer, but also integrated into a textual tradition, his thinking established deep ruptures in the Catholic tradition, without, however, diluting all possible margins of dialogue and approximations. For this article, we start with the pressuposition that there are theoretical-existential affinities that allow us to think about the possibility of a conception of faith structured in the idea of emptying or detachment, without denying the world, in the construction of a space of divine-human experience that is eminently given as a dwelling of God that, as such, is absolute freedom, between Luther and the Rhenish mystic, particularly J. Tauler's thought. For this, we look more specifically into Luther's On the freedom of the Christian and Commentary on the Letter of Paul to the Romans, contrasting them with the Sermons by Tauler.

In search of an unambiguous definition of the notion of "mysticism" as a term in the study of religions various attempts in (e.g.) popular dictionaries and monographs are discussed. Relevant examples from various religious traditions are introduced in order to examine these definitions. In conclusion it is suggested that the notion of "mysticism" does not so much serve as a descriptive term of a unified complex of religious phenomena but rather as an evocative term conjuring up or trying to cope with a religious crisis. In this way the consideration not of "mysticism" as a descriptive term in various contexts as rather the discussion of the various uses this term is put to seems to be a fruitful approach, following Quine's notion of a "semantic ascent".
