Abstract:
In this article we present the research results from the World Internet Project, Ecuador chapter, conducted by the Research Center of Communication and Public Opinion (CICOP) of the School of Communication at the University of The Hemispheres on consumer habits students and their differences with non-students. It notes the importance of these groups give the information they receive from the Internet, television, radio and press, and specifically on access to email, instant messaging, participating in chats, sending attachments by email, phone calls Internet, posting information on blogs, people search, news, travel information, availability of work, humor, download music, download and watch videos, listen to radio online, use social networks, health information sites religious, sexual content, on product characteristics, meaning of words, making payments, shopping, travel reservations and transportation, banking, academic research, visits to online shops, educational institutions and consultations on virtual education, training, games and practices. For this study it used a nationally representative sample of 1.628 subjects in the 24 provinces. For all variables there was a statistically significant difference.

En el presente artículo se presentan los resultados de la investigación del World Internet Project, capítulo Ecuador, realizada por el Centro de Investigaciones de Comunicación y Opinión Pública (CICOP) de la Facultad de Comunicación de la Universidad de Los Hemisferios, sobre los hábitos de consumo de los estudiantes y sus diferencias significativas con los no estudiantes. Se observa la importancia que éstos grupos dan a la información que reciben de Internet, televisión, radio y prensa, y específicamente sobre el acceso al email, la mensajería instantánea, la participación en chats, el envío de anexos por email, las llamadas de celular por Internet, publicación de información en blogs, búsqueda de personas, de noticias, de información de viajes, de oferta de trabajos, de humor, bajar música, bajar o ver videos, escuchar radio online, utilizar redes sociales, información de salud, sitios religiosos, contenidos sexuales, acerca de características de productos, significado de palabras, realización de pagos, de compras, hacer reservaciones de viajes y transporte, servicios bancarios, investigaciones académicas, visitas a tiendas virtuales, consultas sobre instituciones educativas y educación virtual, entrenamiento, y prácticas de videojuegos. Para este estudio se utilizó una muestra representativa del país de 1.628 sujetos en las 24 provincias del país. Para todas las variables se encontró una diferencia estadísticamente significativa.
