This paper focuses on the possible roles of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) in
facilitating teaching and learning of arts and crafts as a foundation to the development
of science and technology in Benue State. From the analysis, teaching and learning of
arts and crafts at the Basic Education level in the state in a sorry state and therefore
cannot be foundation blocks to science and technology in future until something serious
is done about it. Relationships between arts and crafts as well as with other disciplines
were stressed and it was clear that study of arts and crafts could go a long way to
facilitate learning of science and technology. Though challenging, it was identified that
the PTA could assist in area of funding, seeking for assistance of donor agencies, serving
as a regulatory body, work in partnership with government and to work in partnership
with the Nigerian Union of Teacher (NUT) to ensure that teachers adhere strictly to the
ethics of their profession among others.

This paper analyzes the systemic implications of mega PTAs, from potential
gains to unintended political repercussions that may arise. This paper is of the view that mega
PTAs will help advance the multilateral trading system regu lations but with risks invo lved. Further  on,
this paper concludes that comprehensive liberalization with openness to new members for harmonizing
rules combined with strengthening the WTO will help minimize the trade -diverting effects of
mega PTAs and increase the chances of multilateralization.

The rapid rise of China as a major economic power within a short span of 30 years is often described as one of the greatest economic success stories in modern times. For the past 30 years, China has opened and strengthened diplomatic relations and expanded her trading network. With the rise of China as a colossal trading power, it is important and timely to study the role of China in shaping the regional trade pattern between China, East Asian countries and ASEAN.
