Perovskite solar cells are a new breed of solar cells belonging to the third generation of innovations that have witnessed an efficiency boost from 3.8% to 25.5% in a time frame of 10 years. There are a number of manufacturing techniques known and discovered by man to maximize the possibility of scalability across all sectors. Each synthesizing technique emerges with its own set of pros and cons which need to be correspondingly tackled based on the application scenario. The research advancements currently being carried out are discovering materials that can be exploited to replace the current PSCs and overcome the challenges of these devices, band gap engineering, and revamping metal contacts and lastly, reducing toxicity of current PSCs are few of the varied research opportunities available in this domain of renewables.

En Quintana Roo, Chiapas, Tabasco, Campeche y Yucatán, así como en las Republicas centroamericanas, existe una enorme demanda insatisfecha de desarrollos tecnológico-energéticos a nivel familiar, comunitario, unidad productiva, y municipal.  Industria, comercio, turismo, agricultura, pesca y ganadería, comparten una auténtica “hambre” de energía adecuada, oportuna, confiable y a precios accesibles. Sin embargo, en toda esta basta región, no existe una sola empresa que se dedique, precisamente, al mantenimiento, basado en desarrollos tecnológicos “a la medida”, de sistemas de energía a menudo ya instalados pero operando deficientemente. Contribuir a la superación de este déficit, es el cometido del presente proyecto.  La propuesta persigue conformar la base tecnológica necesaria para el diseño y desarrollo de tecnologías de equipos, procesos y productos para la generación, transmisión y aplicación de energía proveniente de fuentes convencionales y alternas en Mesoamérica.
