Psychopathy, characterized by callousness and lack of empathy, and mental illness, encompassing various psychiatric disorders, are interconnected in psychology. While psychopathy is not a recognized mental illness, individuals with psychopathic traits often exhibit comorbid mental health conditions like substance use disorders and certain personality disorders. Understanding the overlap between psychopathy and mental illness can aid in developing tailored treatment plans and interventions for individuals with psychopathic traits and comorbid mental health conditions. Further research is needed to deepen our understanding of this relationship and to design targeted interventions that address the specific needs of this complex population.

Perhaps, building on Derrida’s deconstruction oppositional thought pattern as a basic mode of self-apprehension or consciousness, Cixous, querying the propriety of ‘the Son’s emergence from the Father without a Mother’ in her feminist consciousness unthinkable, argues that thought always works by its contraries (Derrida, 1988, Cixous, 1988, Ojoniyi, 2020). Of course, this position is not novel to Cixous as it only re-echoes Blake’s thesis in The Marriage of Heaven and Hell. In fine, it could be argued that the Son emerging from the Father is only a form of the manifestation of a ‘hell’ that Cixous and most Feminists could probably not marry to their imaginary existential ‘heaven.’ It is a patriarchal hell, a similitude of an illusory deconstructionists’ Centre that must be ruptured to give the right of way to a matriarchal heaven of a free play. Nevertheless, it seems that what is actually at the stake is arguably to be seen as a form of psychological fixation of a ‘Self’ in an eternal opposition to the ‘Other[s]’ it sees as its enemies. Unfortunately, those enemies are not always in the nebulous ‘Other[s]. The enemy is arguably always in a false Self that seeks to constitute itself to a new/ultimate Centre at the expense of the Otherness. It is in engaging these issues that this paper critically examines the need for the death of this Self by analysing the works of the author on himself after he was blackmailed and his character was defamed in a Sex scandal in Osun State University. In essence, it examines how the author achieves what he identifies as the mutilation of him-Self to escape being initiated into criminality through its theatre of intentionality.

The Zen process of finding Kensho or Insights to ease suffering is similar to conflict resolution process of modern Psychotherapy. Zen has many similarities of approach to soothe the distressed mind and corelates well with modern day psychotherapeutic practices.

Objective: Therapeutic alliance is often considered as a predictor for therapeutic success. This study explored dyadic synchrony of skin conductance response (SCR) during naturalistic therapeutic interactions and investigated its potential as an objective biomarker for predicting therapy effectiveness. Methods: In this proof-of-concept study, skin conductance from both dyad members was continuously measured via wristbands during psychotherapy. Patients and therapists completed post-session reports capturing their subjective appraisal of therapeutic alliance. Additionally, patients completed symptom questionnaires. Each therapeutic dyad was recorded twice in a follow-up design. The first session of the follow-up group was assessed for physiological synchrony (Single Session Index (SSI)). Therapy outcome was captured by the difference between symptom severity scores over time. Results: SCR synchrony significantly predicted the outcome variable of change in patients' global severity index (GSI). High positive SCR concordance was linked to a reduction in patients' GSI, while negative or small positive SSI values were linked to an increase in patients' GSI. Conclusion: The results demonstrate the presence of SCR synchrony in clinical interactions. Skin conductance response synchrony was a significant predictor for change in patients' symptom severity index, emphasizing its potential as an objective biomarker in the context of evidence-based psychotherapy.

Este documento recoge la propuesta antropológica del médico y filósofo austriaco Rudolf Allers como una manera de acercarse al tratamiento psicoterapéutico. En el texto, se aborda un primer apartado sobre las influencias y críticas del autor a las propuestas psicológicas ya existentes, una segunda parte dedicada a su conceptualización antropológica en base a las facultades del conocimiento y la voluntad, y, en último lugar, una explicación acerca del concepto del carácter y del desarrollo de este según la visión del autor. Partiendo de la explicación adleriana acerca de la neurosis y aprovechando los fundamentos aristotélico-tomistas, desarrolló una conceptualización espiritual del vivir humano capaz de superar las limitaciones materialistas de otras propuestas contemporáneas.

Understanding the nature of our soul is important because philosophy is the study of how to remove the soul from the body, (Phaedo 65a). The practice which maintains this is wisdom, therefore the philosopher is a lover of wisdom.

Firstly, allow me to introduce you to the pranic body. Prana is life force; without prana we would be dead. Around the body there are five types of pranas. They are all parts of the Great Prana the cosmic Prana. (Capital P). These pranas look after our daily bodily functions, very briefly: -

We begin from a very important part of St. Thomas Aquinas work Summa Theologiae I-II. For Aquinas, following , one cannot fully meet the human natural order without the grace, apart from perfection it delivers. After briefly seeing some parallel topics, and Augustinian and Thomist teaching of the Council of Trent, we consider what is meant by psychotherapy and psychology and its distinction from psychiatry. Here we proceed to a consideration from the spiritual theology, as an inadequate knowledge of the laws of spiritual evolution produces the “necessity” of psychotherapy. We go then to the relationship between teaching and psychology, and the need for a renewal of Thomist bases. We end by mentioning some practical problems: education, individual crisis, church environments.

Narrative theory origins go back to Plato as an approach that tries to understand the story's abstract mechanism. After the separation of theory, mimetic, and diegetic elements, it continued its fundamental development until Aristotle, Finnish School, Saussure, Russian Formalists, Prague School, German Scholars, Anglo-Saxon Formalism and French Structuralism. Narratology has spread beyond the literary world, from visual narrative to artificial intelligence. -After a quarter of a century from named the field by Todorov in 1966.- In this context, Narrative Therapy is one of many fields of narrative that emerged in the 1990s. The approach that emerged with White and Epston has turned into a rich research field that feeds many disciplines. “Handbook of Research on Narrative and Therapy in the Post-Truth Era” aims to make a strong contribution to studies examining the interaction between narrative and therapy. The book focuses on the one hand on the structure of the narrative and the possibilities it offers for therapy; on the other hand, the Post-Modern sources of spiritual conflict and how to benefit from the possibilities of the narrative while healing them. In this context, the research to be carried out, new concepts, and models created are the study's basic expectations.

This chapter provides a synthetic overview of the ethics of paternalism in psychotherapy with a focus on involuntary hospitalization to protect patients from self-harm. Paternalism entails the intentional overriding of someone's preferences or actions on grounds of beneficence and nonmaleficence. After the emergence of autonomy in medical ethics, paternalism is generally considered prima facie wrong, as it infringes on patient autonomy, trust, and right to informed consent. In particular, the use of paternalism in psychotherapy raises a host of complex and delicate ethical issues due to the nature of the therapeutic relationship and the difficulty to assess the autonomy of the person who will supposedly benefit from the paternalistic intervention.

ABSTRACT
Up to now, says the author, classic psychiatry explains both psychosis and neurosis as corporeal disturbances, injuries, intoxications, etc. After Rudolf Allers, it is stated in the paper that neurosis is psychogenic, since it is often cured by a psychological treatment. But the body, far from being only an element of our whole personality is also an object of experience. Its condition raises an experience of the world around us, which is capable of undergoing certain variations. Thus the body would be occasion or condition but not cause of the neurotic disorder. Man is a composite, finite, imperfect being, without the possibility of reaching a kind of static imaginary equilibrium. Conflicts are not in themselves a cause of moral disturbance. The neurosis will only be the result of an unconscious rebellion against reality and values. God has a plan for each of us. Fleing from this plan is laziness and cowardice. To accept it is obedience.

RESUMEN: Hasta ahora la psiquiatría clásica, explica tanto la psicosis como la neurosis como perturbaciones corporales, lesiones, intoxicaciones, etc. Rudolf Allers aclara que la neurosis es psicógena, puesto que se cura a menudo por un tratamiento psicológico, pero el cuerpo, lejos de ser sólo un elemento de nuestra personalidad total, es, además, un objeto de experiencia. Su estado suscita una experiencia del mundo que nos rodea, que es susceptible de ciertas variaciones. El cuerpo, de este modo, habría de ser ocasión o condición del trastorno neurótico, no causa eficiente del mismo. Los conflictos no son en sí mismos causa de perturbación moral. La neurosis será solamente el resultado de una rebelión inconsciente contra la realidad y lo valores. Dios tiene un plan para cada uno de nosotros. Huir de este plan es pereza y cobardía. This paper aims to trace analogies between Eastern Buddhism and Modern Science with regards to the concept of No Mindedness of Zen. Zen Buddhism describes the entity of ‘No Mind’ as the prelude to ‘Satori’ or the spiritual awakening. According to Zen philosophy this state cannot be intellectually explained as it is ‘beyond the intellect’ and it defies rationale. Buddhism outlines meditative skills leading to a similar state of No Mindedness called ‘Sunyata’ meant to give insights into ‘Pragnya’ or wisdom just as No Mind is an avenue to ‘Kensho’ or deep insights into supreme knowledge of spirituality. In Chinese Chan, this No mind is comparable to the ‘Great Void’ of Lao Tzu’s Tao, which supposedly ‘includes everything and excludes nothing’. With modern scientific advances in allied fields of Psychology, Psychiatry and Psycho therapeutic sciences we cannot brush off understanding such an important concept of oriental wisdom – the No Mind. This paper is one more attempt to define what is seemingly obscure, in the light of the modern times.

This thesis demonstrates a series of procedures utilizing techniques from psychoanalytic, archetypal and shamanic psychotherapies for working with the archetypal spirit Cat. I will examine how it manifests in dream, active imagination, trance, and synchronicity in order to resolve and heal personality problems associated with the Toddler and Early Childhood level of self-development. My approach focuses on and explores the "spirit-psyche" connection in the soul. I will show how the Cat helps with working-through the reassurance (mirror) transference, Dependent, Oppositional-Defiant, Avoidant, and Histrionic personality traits, and an "anal compulsive" neurotic style.
The transformative and healing Cat bestows upon the soul the luxuriant power of flexibility and self-movement as well as a Dionysian capacity to experience pleasure in the unfolding of one's life including the enrichment of one's sense of self and joy in the exuberant and teeming life of all living things.

RESUMEN El artículo expone las principales ideas y planteamientos de Alfred Adler, agrupados en lo que se conoce como Psicología Individual (Individualpsychologie), teoría surgida a partir de la separación de Adler del movimiento psicoanalítico. Conceptos centrales de la Individualpsychologie, como el sentimiento de inferioridad y el sentimiento de comunidad, son desarrollados en el trabajo, que en la segunda parte trata del rol desempeñado por F. Olivér Brachfeld, psicólogo húngaro, en la difusión de los conceptos adlerianos en América Latina. Brachfeld, que pasó varios años de su vida en América del Sur, propuso como nombre alternativo para la Psicología Individual, el término Psicosíntesis.

No podemos desarrollar aquí, naturalmente, ni un estudio clínico de las diversas formas de la neurosis, ni tampoco una extensa teoría " sobre ellas. No entra en el tema de este libro describir minuciosamente los fenómenos anormales de] carácter humano; nuestro fin primordial es la exposición de algunos principios, importantes a nuestro parecer, para, la educación del hombre normal; los comportamientos anormales nos sirven sólo para ilustrar las desagradables consecuencias de la Conducta no debida. Por tanto, no podemos' hacer más que observaciones generales y de principio al tratar ahora .sobre los caracteres neuróticos ola índole del carácter que nos encontramos en los hombres neuróticos. Si recusamos entrar en una explicación de las teorías sobre la naturaleza y el origen de las neurosis, dejamos también de lado toda discusión crítica con ciertas doctrinas. Queremos tan sólo observar brevemente que estimamos inaceptable la teoría. que pretende hacer depender la neurosis de cualesquiera variaciones orgánicas del cuerpo, y a la que se adscribe la gran mayoría de los que investigan sobre este terreno. Es totalmente erróneo hablar de un ¡débil sistema nervioso» como base de los fenómenos neuróticos, tal ¿explicación surgió en su tiempo como resultado de una concepción esencialmente materialista, que no podía ni quería reconocer otras perturbaciones del ser y el comportarse humanos que las motivadas por. Cambios en el organismo; hoy la mantienen todavía los autores que, o bien: no pudieron liberarse de esa ideología materialista (superada ya por completo), o no han tratado siquiera de poner en claro los conceptos, sobre todo los de causa y motivo, y así han entendido mal incluso la doctrina de la psicología individual sobre la importancia de las minusvalías .orgánicas en el nacimiento de la neurosis. De otra parte, no podemos acoger con simpatía la interpretación del psicoanálisis, pues se le enfrenta una serie de graves objeciones, según creemos. Sin dejar de reconocer el número de efectivos descubrimientos, que en: el terreno de los hechos la investigación psicoanalítica (casi exclusivamente FREUD, su fundador) ha sacado a luz, bles en SI mismos, sobre todo, cuando se ven desde una construcción harto defectuosa, por lo cual sus deficiencias lógicas no podrían resistir siquiera a una crítica inmanente. Hemos de recordar, además que los supuestos básicos de donde surge el psicoanálisis se muestran del todo inaceptables en sí mismos, y sobre todo, cuando se ven desde una metafísica positiva y desde una ideología católica. Nos parece de todo punto, imposible que la filosofía católica y las verdades de la fe en ella recibidas puedan ponerse, de acuerdo nunca yo u los supuestos teóricos del psicoanálisis. Quien se atreve con esta empresa tiene que haber perdido de vista la fundamentación axiomática del sistema psicoanalista o el sentido auténtico de la filosofía católica. Tenemos que indicar, por fin, que desde el punto de "vista de una psicología tanto teórica como empírica se pueden ofrecer serios reparos contra ciertos elementos que integran el sistema del psicoanálisis. Mas, coma ya hemos dicho gue pensamos abstenernos en este lugar de una apreciación crítica detallada., tenemos que remitirnos a las explicaciones que hemos dado en otras ocasiones, sobre estos temas. Hemos creído que en la exposición que sigue debíamos fundamentar nuestra recusación del psicoanálisis y el hecho consiguiente de abstenernos de sus doctrinas subrayando nuestra propia concepción.

Years ago when I was casting around for a dissertation topic, I chose to focus on shame and guilt, because these emotions were often linked in the literature (and merged and confused); but they did seem like different emotions to me. I began studying these emotions by interviewing people. ("Tell me about one time you felt ashamed.") (I've given you a few excerpts from two of these interviews as handouts that you can take with you.) Then I used various methods of qualitative analysis to identify the characteristic markers of shame vs. guilt. Subsequent studies involved statistical analysis and empirical validation of these characteristics (Lindsay-Hartz, 1995). Today, I am going to focus here on the clinical applications of these findings, rather than on the research per se. As I interviewed people, I quickly discovered that shame and guilt were quite different emotions. People did fairly easily talk about guilt. However, when the same people switched to talk about shame, they often had a hard time continuing the interviews. They needed more bathroom breaks. One interviewee told me about moving and giving no one his new address or phone number, in an attempt to hide following his experience of shame. People who had had good eye contact with me suddenly were looking down and avoiding eye contact with me. I thought, "What's going on here?" I began to feel-and see before my eyes-striking differences between these two emotions of shame and guilt-differences that also seemed important in terms of how any therapist or doctor might respond to these emotions in a therapeutic or even a medical context.  I am going to summarize some of these differences and move on to explore the whole shame field of emotions, including shame, humiliation, inferiority, and embarrassment.  I will also focus on relevant therapeutic interventions for working with patients experiencing these emotions in psychotherapy.

Las virtudes necesarias en el vínculo amistoso Trataré de exponer – de una manera más bien práctica, y fundamentado en mi experiencia de largos años en la psicoterapia – el tipo de vínculo amistoso que tiene el neurótico y por el que sufre constantemente debido a su conflictividad. Lo haré contraponiéndolo a las actitudes sanas basadas en las virtudes y su expresión en la vida social. Siempre se les pregunta a los que buscan ayuda psicológica, si es que tienen amistades; y podría decirse que la mayoría ha establecido este tipo de vínculos, aunque no siempre en estas amistades se ven con claridad la benevolencia y concordia recíprocas que – según Santo Tomás – las caracteriza. Algunos tienen muchos amigos, otros pocos, pero en general, todos reconocen tener " amigos " y valorar la amistad. Sin duda, como decía Aristóteles, nadie elegiría vivir sin amigos. Son pocos los que concurren con este motivo explícito de consulta, o sea con su sufrimiento por no tener amigos, ni lograr hacer amistades a pesar del esfuerzo que ponen por obtenerlas y, cuando tienen amigos, hacen cualquier cosa por mantenerlos, pero aún así no lo consiguen y sufren mucho por esto. Sin embargo, la mayoría no traen este problema como motivo de consulta, pero tienen verdaderos trastornos en las relaciones amistosas y – en sentido estricto – se puede decir que no tienen amigos con todas las características de la amistad como hablaba Aristóteles y después completó Santo Tomás, al incluir en el tema la riqueza de la Revelación. Entonces podríamos preguntarnos ¿porqué algunos tienen buenos amigos y para otros es tan difícil disfrutar de este inmenso bien? ¿porqué algunos pueden mantener esas amistades por largos años y otros son tan inestables y cambiantes?, pero sobre todo habría que preguntarse si – en la mayoría de los casos – se trata de verdaderas amistades o si sólo puede hablarse de conocidos, simpatías, cómplices, compañeros de aventuras, etc. Aquí pretendo analizar algunas características que debe tener la personalidad para establecer amistades, siguiendo la experiencia propia y la ajena: desde la sabiduría de Aristóteles y Santo Tomás hasta el pensamiento de psiquiatras del siglo XX, como son Adler y Allers. Para tal fin voy a partir del principio dado por Santo Tomás al comentar la Ética a Nicómaco de Aristóteles, donde dice que la virtud es causa de la verdadera amistad (1)y aún más, la amistad se fundamenta en la virtud y es efecto de la misma. La personalidad virtuosa tiene ya lo básico para establecer verdaderas amistades, porque la amistad perfecta se da entre los que se asemejan según la virtud.(2) Los virtuosos quieren el bien del amigo en cuanto son buenos en sí mismos (3) ; el que se quiere bien a sí mismo, quiere bien al otro. Quieren el bien mutuo, y esta amistad es estable y duradera como permanente es la virtud.(4) Recordemos que la virtud es un hábito que nos induce a obrar el bien porque nos conecta rectamente al fin. Cito a Santo Tomás donde dice: «Como la verdadera amistad se fundamenta sobre la virtud, todo lo opuesto a ésta es un impedimento para la amistad, y todo lo virtuoso sirve para acrecentarla».(5) Trataré de analizar algunas virtudes que me parecieron más importantes en relación al tema de la amistad, y contrapuestas al problema de la neurosis y al sufrimiento psíquico en esta cuestión. Veremos virtudes más fundamentales como la caridad y la humildad, y otras que podríamos decir que son secundarias, pero que también regulan la sana relación entre las personas. Asimismo podemos afirmar que la amistad es psicoterapéutica, porque si la virtud es causa de la verdadera amistad, podemos decir que la amistad cura las enfermedades del alma en la medida en que requiere del desarrollo de las virtudes y de su auténtica
