“A scenario is a coherent, internally consistent and plausible description of a possible
future state of the world”. The name “representative concentration pathways – RCP’s” are
referred to as pathways in order to emphasize that their primary purpose is to provide time-dependent
projections of atmospheric greenhouse gasses (GHGs) concentrations. In this study,
it is intended to reveal the possibilities of future climate change for Turkey and its surrounding
region. HadGEM2-ES, MPI-ESM-MR and GFDL-ESM2M Global Circulation Models’
RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 scenarios outputs were used in the study. Temperature and precipitation
projections were produced from these outputs, based on domain with 20 km resolution, covering
period between 2016 and 2099 and using regional climate model RegCM4.3.4 and with
dynamic downscaling method. According to the models results, it is expected that an increase
between 1°C and 6°C in mean temperatures of Turkey. In generally precipitation amount shows
a decreasing except winter season. Although there is no regular decreasing or increasing trend
throughout projection period, it attracts more attention irregularity of precipitation regime.

Öz: Senaryo, gelecekteki bazı olayları resmeden hikâyelerdir. Senaryo geleceğin tahmini değil, olması muhtemel alternatif durumların tanımlanmasıdır. Bunun yanında, emisyon senaryoları, iklim değişikliği çalışmalarının en önemli bileşenlerinden birini teşkil etmektedir. İklim geniş bölgelerde çok uzun zaman içinde gerçekleşen ortalama hava koşullarıdır. İklim değişikliği ise " nedeni ne olursa olsun iklimin ortalama durumunda veya değişkenliğinde onlarca yıl ya da daha uzun süre boyunca gerçekleşen değişiklikler " biçiminde tanımlanmaktadır. IPCC raporlarında da belirtildiği üzere Türkiye, iklim değişikliğine karşı en hassas bölgelerden biri olan Doğu Akdeniz havzasında yer almaktadır. İklim değişikliğinin olumsuz etkilerini en aza indirmek, sektörel bazda iklim değişikliğine uyum ve mücadele faaliyetlerini desteklemek amacıyla havza, bölge ve il düzeyinde sıcaklık ve yağış projeksiyonları geliştirilmiştir. Bu çalışmada, Amerika Ulusal Okyanus ve Atmosfer İdaresi (NOAA)'ne bağlı Jeofizik Akışkanlar Dinamiği Laboratuarı (GFDL-Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory) tarafından geliştirilen GFDL-ESM2M küresel dolaşım modelinin çıktıları kullanılmıştır. Çalışmada tercih edilen RCP4.5 ve RCP8.5 senaryoları IPCC 5. Değerlendirme Raporu'nda oldukça fazla tercih edilen senaryolardır. Düşük çözünürlükte olan küresel model datalarından daha yüksek çözünürlüklü parametreler elde etmek amacıyla RegCM4.3.4 Bölgesel İklim Modeli ile Nesting (İç içe simülasyonlar) yöntemiyle dinamik ölçek küçültme yapılarak 130x180 grid matrisinde 20 km çözünürlükte, 1971-2000 referans periyoduna göre 2016-2040, 2041-2070, 2071-2099 yılları için sıcaklık ve yağış projeksiyonları üretilmiştir. Projeksiyon sonuçlarına göre; yıllık ortalama sıcaklıkta RCP4.5 senaryosuna göre ortalama 1,5°C, RCP8.5 senaryosuna göre ortalama 2,5°C artış ön görülmektedir. Yağış miktarlarında RCP4.5 senaryosuna göre ortalama olarak 10-15 mm/yıl, RCP8.5 senaryosuna göre ortalama olarak 105-110 mm/yıl civarında azalışlar öngörülmektedir. Sıcaklık ve yağış ortalamalarındaki değişiklikler ülkemizin çok çeşitli coğrafik özelliklere sahip olması nedeniyle bölgesel, havza ve il bazında farklılıklar göstermektedir. Sıcaklık artışı açısından en hassas havza olarak Fırat-Dicle havzası, yıllık ortalama yağış değişimi açısından ise Akdeniz Bölgesi içerisinde yer alan havzaların en hassas yöreler olması ön görülmektedir. This study investigates the projected changes in evapotranspiration in Egypt, with a focus on the Delta, Middle and Upper Egypt regions. Maximum and minimum air temperature were statistically downscaled and compared with current climate (defined as the period 1971–2000). FAO-56
Penman-Monteith equation was used to estimate ETo using climatic data Evapotranspiration is estimated based on the predicted maximum and minimum temperature under four Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) scenarios (RCP2.6 – RCP4.5 – RCP6.0 and RCP8.5) during three time series (2011-2040, 2041-2070 and 2071-2100) Other climate factors i.e., radiation, relative humidity and wind speed, used from current climate data. The obtained results revealed that maximum and minimum air temperatures increased under all RCPs scenarios compared to current data. Moreover, the RCP8.5 had the highest maximum and minimum air temperature compared to
the other RCPs scenarios. It was found that for all future periods the annual evapotranspiration will increase for all agro-meteorological zones by uneven values. Results also revealed that ETo increased significantly in different tested time series compared to current ETo values. The values of ETo for the 2071-2100 period were higher than that for the 2011-2040 period or mid-term (2041- 2070) period. The highest ETo values was predicted in this study by RCP8.5 during the 2071 –2100 time series in the Upper Egypt region.

Global average temperatures increased by 0.8°C in 2016 as compared to the period of 1961-1990 and 1.1°C from the pre-industrial period (1850-1899).They hit records for three consecutive years in 2014, 2015 and 2016, and the year 2016 ranks as the warmest on record. Climate models expect a temperature increase between 1.5°C-2.5°C and between 2.5°C-3.6°C based on RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 scenarios respectively by end of the century. It is projected that the increased temperatures may cause increases in the frequency and severity of some meteorological extreme events. Heat waves accounted for 43% of meteorological disasters in 2016 in Turkey. In this study, future trends of periods of heat and cold waves are studied with respect to RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 scenarios of HadGEM2-ES Global Climate Model. The results showed while number of heat waves are expected to increase, a decreasing trend of cold waves will dominate in future periods in Turkey.
