The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of using video modeling delivered through a portable media player (Apple video iPod) as a means of teaching job-related tasks to four young adults with autism spectrum disorders. The videos were enhanced by adding written instructions. Results indicated that using the iPod was associated with immediate and substantial gains in the percentage of steps completed correctly. All of the participants demonstrated maintenance of the acquired tasks. In addition, all four of the young adults were able to use the video iPod independently. Social validity data indicated that using an iPod was a socially acceptable and appropriate way to deliver a video modeling intervention in some community employment settings

This study is the first social validity evaluation of the Spanish version of the FRIENDS for Life program with Mexican children. FRIENDS for Life is a cognitive-behavioral intervention aimed at increasing social and emotional competence and decreasing anxiety and depressive symptoms in children. The program is designed to empower children and families by teaching relaxation techniques, coping and interpersonal skills, and positive thinking. Participants were 498 students, ages 9 to 11. Upon completion of the program, students, parents, and teachers were surveyed regarding their perceptions on the utility and enjoyability, and their global satisfaction. Results indicate that students, parents, and teachers evaluate the program as helpful and enjoyable. Gender differences were found, girls reported the program as more useful and enjoyable than boys. The skill that students and parents found more useful was changing negative thoughts into positive, and positive correlations were also found between level of satisfaction and outcome measures.

The video model method is a teaching method that can be used in teaching many different skills to children displaying normal development and to children with developmental disabilities. This study aimed to examine and analyze studies in which the video modeling was used in teaching social skills to individuals with developmental disabilities. The present study is a qualitative document analysis. Documents (research) which were gathered according to certain criteria were analyzed by the authors. A total of 21 studies, 2 of which were conducted in Turkey, that met the criteria offset by the present study were analyzed according to the certain criteria.
