Sertanejo. Felicidade. Álcool. Feminejo. Abstract: This work aims to analise the relationship stablished between the search for hapiness in the neoliberal contemporary context and the suffering sung in the Brazilian music genre popular known as sofrência. Contrasting the discursive narratives from the old dor de cotovelo (Brazilian old heartache) songs and the current songs of suffering, analyzing them using the bakhtinian dialogism and relying on psicanalist theories, we want to undestand the relation pain, suffering and the imperative demand for happiness stablish. More specifically, this article investigates the different configurations of these signs which are straightly linked to the representation of alcohol and the feminejo (female Brazilian country music) in the hit sertanejo (Brazilian country music) songs.
