Preparing for mass casualty incidents is essential to maximizing community resilience. Many US-based organizations and regions have developed stockpiles of medications, supplies, and equipment for mass casualty incident preparedness. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) assess and manage federally stockpiled materials, but hospitals, healthcare systems, and regional organizations are responsible for maintaining locally owned caches. The CDC has protocols for assessing and managing the Strategic National Stockpile, but no such guidance exists for local or geo-graphical/regional stockpiles. This article outlines best practices and recommendations identified in the literature related to maintaining and sustaining a local or regional stockpile. Recommendations are provided on the timing and procedures for assessing, inventorying, storing, managing, tracking, and deploying materials stockpiled on site, in a trailer, or in a warehouse. In addition, alternative approaches for maintaining a local or regional cache, such as vendor-or user-managed inventory methods, are addressed. Management of local or regional caches requires an investment in infrastructure and training but is necessary to ensure the integrity of stockpiled medication and supplies and to enable rapid and appropriate activation during a mass casualty incident. Hospitals, healthcare systems, businesses, academic institutions, public health agencies, organizations, and regions can use the recommendations here to develop protocols or policies to properly manage their existing stockpiles, which should minimize costs related to damaged supplies.

To determine whether stockpiles of expired Tamiflu in strategic national stockpiles are potent. Validation of drug stability and activity safeguards the public health to allow use of Tamiflu reserves during influenza outbreak. Methods: USP method for oseltamivir phosphate was used to measure drug potency of stockpiled Tamiflu. Practical modifications to the dissolution method were used to evaluate the drug release. Results: Chemical stability of three lots of expired Tamiflu indicated satisfactory drug potency meeting the USP acceptance criteria of the labeled claim. Dissolution testing showed that all Tamiflu lots passed the criteria of no less than 75% of labeled amount of drug dissolved. All samples analyzed had ~100% dissolution and chemical release attributes comparable to controls. Conclusions: All expired lots of stockpiled Tamiflu tested were stable and potent based on USP guidelines.

The goal of this study is perform analysis of stockpile management in producing company XY and suggest optimization for strockpile management by means of EOQ model. The study is divided in two parts. In the first part it deals with issues of stockpile management. In the second part it comes out from the practical positon of stockpile management method such as Just-in-time, Kanban, Semafor and ABC methods. Then it deals with optimalization of the most turnover material in case of certainty contractor’s and customer’s relationships in the company. Cílem této studie je provést analýzu řízení zásob ve výrobním podniku XY a navrhnout optimalizaci řízení zásob pomocí EOQ modelu. Studie je rozdělena na dvě části. V první části se zabývá problematikou řízení zásob. V druhé části vychází z praktického hlediska metody řízení zásob, jako jsou metody Just-in-time, Kanban, Semafor a ABC. Dále řeší optimalizaci nejvíce obrátkového materiálu v případě jistoty a dodavatelsko-odběratelské vztahy ve společnosti. V textu jsou vyhodnoceny výsledky a opatření, jak by společnost mohla zefektivnit skladování.

Esta pesquisa analisa o fluxo das armas que se encontram em poder das instituições públicas
brasileiras por terem sido apreendidas ou entregues por meio da Campanha Nacional do Desarmamento.
Ao longo desses dois fluxos, as armas passam por diversas instituições, como as polícias, os fóruns e
o Exército. Apesar de haver leis nacionais que regulamentam o caminho percorrido por essas armas, é
possível identificar diferenças no funcionamento desses fluxos nos diversos estados da federação. Para
mapear e compreender essas diferentes possibilidades, foram analisados os casos de três cidades em
diferentes regiões brasileiras: Campo Grande (MS), Recife (PE) e Campinas (SP). Em cada localidade,
buscou-se compreender o funcionamento desses fluxos e de seus regulamentos, bem como identificar
falhas e práticas inovadoras nesse processo e nas condições de segurança para a custódia das armas, o
que ensejou recomendações para o aprimoramento das políticas públicas de controle de armas. A análise
evidenciou que o principal ponto de retenção das armas está no Poder Judiciário, por causa da morosidade
dos processos judiciais, somada à prática de manter armazenadas as armas vinculadas a processos até sua
conclusão. Falhas nos registros e controles das armas, bem como falta de segurança nos depósitos de
armas das polícias e do Judiciário também são dificuldades recorrentes. Experiências exitosas também
foram observadas, com destaque para o caso de Recife (PE), que estabeleceu inovadora política para o
controle das armas sob custódia do Estado.
