It’s time to be alarmed not just alert. On Sunday, Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles revealed a “very dangerous” intercept by a People’s Liberation Army Air Force’s (PLAAF) fighter of an Australian P-8 maritime patrol aircraft took place on 26 May over the South China Sea. The P-8 aircraft was flying in international airspace at the time, well outside territorial waters. Australia has conducted maritime patrols in the area for several decades – the P-8s flight was unremarkable, the J-16 fighter’s aggressive moves anything but.

I am a targeted individual that has moved to 3 states in the past 3 years and have lost a total of 49 computers in the past 4 years. I hope that no American will endure the pure hell I have endured. Lieutenant Colonel Dalim is famous for his role in the 1975 coup against Sheikh Mujeeb ur Rehman. It is the ultimate tragedy of history that those who struggle against a state as part of an oppressed ethnic group , in the end seek sanctuary and asylum with their past perceived oppressors. Thus sons of leading Baloch freedom fighters and leading Baloch freedom fighters became Pakistani state assets in the end . Having finally discovered the bitter fact that the so called state that they perceived as oppressor was still better than their own ethnic compatriots. This is Colonel Dalims tragedy also. The style of the book is not ideal as it is based on paragraph headings and not chapters. Dalims style is highly personalized and the book is more a personal story or a personal account than a serious historic narrative. Since Colonel Dalim became a Pakistani asset , or one may state an intelligence asset , much of his narrative takes the official Pakistani line. Anti Indian , Anti Awami league etc . This is logical but not historically ideal. The book totally omits the fact that the great Bangladeshi freedom fighter Major Ziaur Rehman , who made the historic freedom announcement from radio Chittagong was not even an ethnic Bengali but a Bihari. Colonel Dalim finds the Indians as the source of all evil and thinks that the Mukti Bahini could have overthrown the Pakistani state and liberated Bangladesh without Indian Army help.Now this is a totally utopian assumption.Without Indian military intervention it was impossible to create Bangladesh and whether Bengalis like it or not , Indian state was the midwife without whose active help Bangladesh would have been a still born dead baby or a total abortion. The second irony of the fact is that while Dalim constantly finds fault with Awami League and Sheikh Haseena Wajid , the hard fact is that Haseena has doubled the Bangladeshi army in last 7 or ten years and significanty increased its perks and privileges. Dalims book or rants will find limited readership outside Pakistan where the book has been published. At the personal level it is an interesting account , but that is where its merits end.

This is a threat assessment of Tinker Air Force Base located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. It identifies a potential threat actor, the Islamic State of the Levant and focuses on the vulnerabilities of the base: entrance points, theft, and open source documents. The investigator also provide recommendations to strengthen the base.

Building the Minuteman missile fields in central Montana and bringing Alpha flight to alert during the Cuban Missile Crisis was a heavy lift for the United States Army Corps of Engineers and Air Force. Given the urgency the Cold War placed on this weapon system, the USACE had to acquire vast tracts of land from private citizens. Some resisted outright, others acquiesced, but the overall process was long, painstaking, and anything but simple. As construction began, some Montanans revolted against the prime contractor Fuller-Webb because they believed it was hiring too many out of state firms and employees to do the work. Ultimately, this issue resolved itself and the project injected over $300 million into the state economy. However, shortly after construction was underway the US and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics entered a standoff against each other known as the Cuban Missile Crisis. As a result Strategic Air Command and the 341st Strategic Missile Wing brought the first flight of Minuteman missiles to alert, eventually prevailing against the Soviet Union, but not before both the Kennedy administration and Khrushchev realized these weapons were not good for mankind, let alone their own nations. As a result, the Department of Defense began to pare back resources for the ICBM mission following the Cuban Missile Crisis. These actions from the 1960s, left largely unattended by leaders in the Air Force, provided the foundation for the mission’s post-Cold War problems.

During World War II, the air forces of the Allies, Britain and the United States, conducted highly destructive area-bombing attacks against the cities of the Axis powers, Germany and Japan, aiming at “weakening their ability and will to make war” (5). The Allied air forces left, especially, the cities of Hamburg, Dresden, Tokyo, Hiroshima and Nagasaki in ruins, causing the death of about 800,000 people. The British philosopher A. C. Grayling, in his book Among the Dead Cities: The History and Moral Legacy of the WWII Bombing of Civilians in Germany and Japan recounted in great detail the British and U.S. bombing campaigns, and reached the same conclusion that a famous U.S. government survey of the air war had reached in 1946. Grayling convincingly argued that the indiscriminate bombing of German and Japanese cities were both ineffective and immoral.

This paper provides an overview and analysis of the role, place and importance of air power for the success of joint military operations in conduct of NATO deterrence activities and operations. Air power has been highly valued in defence, security and in warfare from its very beginning, since the establishment of the first Air Forces. With its modern development it has become crucial for achieving military goals, as well as national ones. The importance of air power is shown through its definition and comparison in the military doctrines of the air forces of certain countries and NATO, where it is obvious how important it is in the structure of national power, security and defence, as well as in collective security and defence of NATO. The emphasis is on the ongoing implementation of NATO military activities and operations and the projection of the Alliance's air power in deterring Russia's potential threats to its members in Northeast Europe, in the Baltic region. The current method of projection of air power and the use of its elements in these NATO military activities are discussed and presented. The special features and capabilities provided by the air power, which do not possess other military components and cannot compensate for these effects, give it a key role in supporting and conducting joint military operations, and in enabling the success of their implementation.

Military history forms part of the curriculum of the Greek Air Force Academy, especially but not exclusively for the pilot trainees/cadets. Its importance is manifested by the fact that it is reserved for the final (fourth) year of their training and is taught for a full semester (a maximum of 60 hours). Other categories of cadets, such as aircraft mechanics, engineers of airport facilities, electronics and communication specialists, as well as air defense controllers, are also taught military history, but somewhat earlier (during their second year) and for fewer hours (up to 35 per semester). The teaching and consequent knowledge of military history is a qualification for the demands of the job of Greek Air Force officers; it is one of the means of instilling into the cadets the core values of the Air Force and of the Greek Armed Forces in general. Its study is centered on the plethora of military
conflicts of the first half of the 20th century in which the armed forces of Greece have participated. Between 1897 and 1953, Greece participated in twelve distinct conflicts that ranged from guerrilla campaigns and local Balkan wars to its participation in the two world wars and a full-fledged civil war that has more or less divided the Greek nation ever since. As a consequence, these varied conflicts left a very mixed legacy. On the one hand, a legacy of victory and valor, as well as an underlying national triumphalism; on the other, a legacy of national discord, catastrophic defeat, enemy occupation, and bitter civil war. Therefore, the study of military history in the Greek Air Force Academy has significantly departed from the traditional narrative of decisive battles and great leaders to a more nuanced approach that examines the impact of the wars on the society as a whole and has its roots in social and organizational history. In any case, it forms a staple of the professional military education at the Greek Air Force Academy and is getting stronger with the progress of time, especially as the new interdisciplinary approach in its study enhances the cooperation not only between the branches and institutions of the Greek Armed Forces but also between comparable international institutions.

mayınlardan temizlendiğine dair rapor verildiği Türk tarih araştırmalarında genel
kabul görmüş bir olgu. Yazılı kaynaklar açısından bakıldığında; aslında ortada
kapanmamış bir hesap yok. Türk kaynakları; 18 Mart saldırısı öncesi İngiliz uçaklarının
boğazın mayınlardan temizlendiğine dair rapor verdiğinde hem fikir. Hatta İngiliz
kabine belgelerini kaynak olarak kullanan Türk kaynakları bile bu tezi savunuyor.
İngiliz tarafında ise Birinci Dünya Savaşını inceleyen hem deniz hem de hava tarihi
kaynaklarında bu tür bir bilgiye ulaşmak imkânsız.
Türk mayınları ve İngiliz uçakları arasındaki bu ilişkinin ne zaman ve kimin tarafından

duyulmayan ancak savaşın sonucuna direkt etkisi olan bu konu açıklığa kavuşturulmaya
çalışılacaktır.

In 2016, Chief of Staff of the Air Force (CSAF) General David Goldfein identified “revitalizing the squadron” as his number one priority during his four-year tenure. According to the CSAF, the squadrons are the foundational organization in the service. The purpose of this qualitative phenomenological study was to query recently graduated squadron commanders to understand what conditions or activities impact squadron effectiveness. A sample of 30 commanders from different major commands completed a 30- to 60-minute semi-structured interview. Interview questions were framed around seven areas of organizational effectiveness: (a) leadership, (b) training, (c) customer service, (d) performance improvement, (e) change management, (f) communication, and (g) employee relations. Phrase frequency results revealed 11 key nodes that impact organizational effectiveness and, more importantly, how they do so. A cluster analysis identified relationships between nodes that impacted multiple areas of organizational effectiveness. The findings of this study can be used as a guide to aide incoming commanders in creating more effective organizations.

In the paper the authors examine the relations between hybrid warfare and air power. First, they provide an overview on hybrid warfare in general, than they interpret the core air power roles and types of air operations. The final and substantive two chapters are about the significant features of air power related to employment in hybrid warfare and they provide instances what sort of irregular threat from the air the joint force may face with.

The technological development of the last decades has brought to light more and more important possibilities for improving the technologies applied in aviation. Among other things, the low-speed aircrafts can be in the near future equipped with electric engines of a totally new type. But for this, we must first establish theoretically how the direct conversion of the magnetic energy can be done and also, we have to study the properties of the magnetic materials and how they can be used in the design of a new type of a prime mover. Aviation should be one of the first areas that would benefit from the results of this research and development activity.

The article presents the safety issue bonded to the Polish Air Force F-16 multirole aircraft. The authors pointed out the issue of fuel used for emergency supply system of these aircrafts. The paper emphasized the fact that these aircrafts require special fuel with designation H-70, which is 70% aqueous solution of toxic hydrazine. For this reason, the rescue services of Polish Air Force bases where Polish F-16 are stationed had to be adjusted accordingly. Just as im-portantly authors noticed that in the event of an emergency landing of this aircraft at different airports can receive difficulties associated with the possible leakage of hydrazine, or its neutralization in the absence of specialized Hydrazine Response Team, which are part of the Rescue Group (Aircraft rescue and firefighting – ARFF). The article describes Polish contribution to the Baltic air-policing mission in the period 2006–2014. It is a NATO air defence Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) in order to guard the airspace over the three Baltic states of Esto-nia, Latvia and Lithuania. There is analyzed the whole spectrum of shift manning and equipment, tasks kinetic and nonkinetic CIMIC activities of Polish Military Contingents Orlik (Orlik means young eagle).

The rights of pregnant workers as well as (the lack of) paid maternity leave have increasingly become topics of a major policy debate in the United States. Yet, few discussions have focused on the U.S. military, where many of the latest policy changes focus on these very issues. Despite the armed forces' increases to maternity-related benefits, servicewomen continue to be stigmatized for being pregnant and taking advantage of maternity policies. In an effort to understand this disconnect, Megan McFarlane analyzes military documents and conducts interviews with enlisted servicewomen and female officers. She finds a policy/culture disparity within the military that pregnant servicewomen themselves often co-construct, making the policy changes significantly less effective. McFarlane ends by offering suggestions for how these policy changes can have more impact and how they could potentially serve as an example for the broader societal debate.
