本文以蘇州為例,利用抗戰時期當地的報紙文獻為基礎,輔以爬梳其他民國報刊、史志資料,試圖重新檢視蘇州在淪陷時期旅行活動的概況。以往受到戰爭的抗敵論述,與日軍鐵蹄下,民眾生活朝不保夕,旅行活動陷入停滯的既定印象所限,使得淪陷區在抗戰時期的旅行實態,鮮少為人所了解。從本文的討論可以發現,淪陷時期的蘇州,旅行風氣並非完全停滯,甚至似有回復至戰前榮景的情況,此與清末以降至戰前,大批日籍遊客深慕蘇州歷史文化舊跡之盛名,與戰時的親日政權鑒於蘇人好遊,與政府官員對遊覽的喜好,有密切的關聯。
