Tarot Symbolism

The planetary correspondence of Tiphareth is​ ​ Sun and each of the minor arcana cards numbered "Six" exhibit this planet's quality colored by their corresponding elemental suit of fire, water, air or earth. These four suits correspond to the four worlds of the​ QBL​ : Fire: Atziluth, Water: Briah, Air: Yetzirah and Earth: Assiah. The combination of Six Sun and the decan planetary attribute of Jupiter is summed up by the card's title of ​ Victory. A Sun Jupiter combination in Fire indicates expansion of energy, a golden age of creativity and sense of well being. Victory achieved after and through turbulence, strife and difficulty.

Sun Pisces corresponding to the major arcana tarot card Moon represents a period of dissolution depicting the end of a cycle. When referring to a cycle within the context of the following description, we must remember we are the cycle within what appears to be the sphere of the cosmos. Because Pisces is the final sign of the zodiac, it represents the closing of our journey through the astrological signs. Tarot Moon, the card corresponding to Pisces therefore graphically illustrates this closing of a cycle. At this stage of the sequence we are witnessing the dissolving of one system into another. This is not recycling as in duplication it is to move into a new and original sequence of experiences. Vehicles of this move are the wolves in the foreground of the card who through their mastication of the old cycle create substance for use in the new. Elements of the old cycle are retained but readjusted as memories and dreams for use in the new. When viewing this card as the close of a physical lifespan the forces depicted by the wolves are the release of what will be guiding substances for the new, such as subconscious disturbances. Elements of the old cycle, such as physical components, are returned to the physical realm once more to be recycled as temporary vehicles in the continuing adventures of the cosmos. The red and blue colors of the background are opposite ends of the color spectrum symbolizing a complete sequence.

Le « Womanhood Revisited Tarot » est le résultat de deux années d’études, de recherche et de création numérique.  Chacune des 78 cartes est le résultat un travail numérique en noir et blanc – mélange de collages et de recompositions – suivi d’une colorisation. Les sources des collages proviennent de scans de revues, de livres et de journaux illustrés parus entre 1865 (apparition des suffragettes) et 1914 (1ère guerre mondiale) au Royaume-Uni, en Alllemagne, en France et aux USA.

François Isabel contemporanéise l’iconographie des arcanes tout en respectant le principe pédagogique voulu par Marsile Ficin[1]. C’est ainsi qu’à l’instar des 22 arcanes majeures, les 56 arcanes mineures (Deniers, Coupes, Épées, Bâtons) sont toutes illustrées d’une scène et sous-titrées d’un mot clef. L’anglais a été choisi pour sa neutralité de genre.

Le tarot est présenté en boite cartonnée. La boite contient également 8 cartes supplémentaires d'explications.

Il n'a été imprimé qu'en 700 exemplaires.

[1] Depuis 1982, Christophe Poncet poursuit des recherches sur le tarot de Marseille et Marsile Ficin. Ces travaux ont donné lieu à des publications dans des revues scientifiques et chez des éditeurs universitaires. Il est également l’auteur du documentaire « Les Mystères du tarot de Marseille » diffusé sur le réseau culturel franco-allemand Arte en 2015. Les recherches de Christophe Poncet l’amènent à penser que son créateur est Le Florentin Marsile Ficin (1433-1499) auteur de la première traduction intégrale des Dialogues de Platon. « De toutes les influences intellectuelles qui devaient agir, en Italie et au-dehors, pendant la Renaissance, la plus forte a été sans doute celle de Marsile Ficin », écrit A. Rivaud dans « Histoire de la philosophie ». Marsile Ficin a conçu le tarot comme un support pédagogique pour enseigner sa philosophie et en a supervisé la réalisation par une équipe d’artistes, graveurs et imprimeurs florentins vers 1470.

La tesi consiste in una ricostruzione dei rapporti intercorsi tra l'artista Corrado Cagli e il poeta Charles Olson negli anni tra 1940 e 1950 attraverso lo studio della loro corrispondenza. In particolare viene approfondita la loro comune passione per la tecnica divinatoria dei tarocchi dalla quale nacquero alcuni progetti di collaborazione di poesia e arte. Sono quindi analizzate le opere di Cagli e le poesie di Olson ispirate a questo tema.
