Design  and  implementation  of  Short  Message  Service  (SMS)  alert  intelligent  security  door  system  with remote monitoring and control is presented in this paper. The system was designed in such a way that the door opens automatically  for 12 seconds when the right password is keyed in. The 12 seconds is to give  time  for  user  accessibility  through  the  door,  and  then  the  door  closes.  An  SMS  is  sent  to  a  predefined  phone  number  to  confirm  that  access  is  granted  immediately.  When  a  wrong  password  is entered,  in  case  of  possible  intrusion  or  forgotten  password  an  SMS  is  also  being  sent  to  same  predefined phone number. The door is permanently locked for three trial times. The user can then reset the password  for  forgotten  password  or  is  being  alerted  of  an  intruder.  In  this  paper,  AT89C52
microcontroller serves as the controller and is interfaced to a Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) module, to enable for SMS or alert to be sent to the pre-defined phone number. The system also comprises  of  a  liquid  crystal  display  (LCD)  for  display  of  information  and  a  keypad  for  entering  of  the password or the security code.  Proteus software  was used to carry out the real-time  simulation. When tested,  the  system  was  satisfactorily  proven  to  be  a  practical  progression  in  entree  control  and  door safety system technology.

Un programme de recherche archeologique franco-egyptien lance en 2000 a entrepris l'exploration d'une facette peu connue de la ville du Caire : son passe medievial. Les deux principaux axes de recherches, fouille et etude d'une partie de l'enceinte et fouilles de sauvetage pres des anciennes portes, offrent un apercu inedit et tres encourageant sur cette epoque prestigieuse du monde islamique. Faisant suite a une premiere campagne qui avait porte sur les communes d'Arengosse et Beylongue, une operation de prospections et sondages a ete menee en 2003 dans 4 autres communes du Brassenx : Ousse-Suzan, Saint-Yaguen, Villenave, Ygos-et-Saint-Saturnin. Parmi les 37 sites inventories, 3 ont fait l'objet de sondages d'evaluation. Ces derniers ont mis en evidence un habitat du Bronze moyen avec des elements de metallurgie (Bidau-Meste a Ousse-Suzan), une necropole du 1 e r âge du Fer (Suisse-Ouest a Ygos-et-St-Saturnin), et un habitat du 1 e r âge du Fer en bordure de riviere (Parbes-unite 3 a Saint-Yaguen). La riviere Bez apparait, a differentes periodes, comme un axe structurant de l'occupation du sol dans ce secteur geographique situe au contact du Bassin de l'Adour et de la Grande Lande.

My senior capstone project will be a door barricade. The main idea for the use of the door barricade is for schools in the case of an intruder. The barricade that I will be designing is a solution to the inefficient barricades that I saw at my high school. It could also be used at businesses and homes. My design would be easy to use and have a fail-safe option. The two areas of mechanical engineering technology that my capstone project will focus on are stress analysis and electronics. Every part for my door barricade is drawn in SolidWorks. All of the parts are assembled in a drawing. I did a statics analysis on two of my parts. There are also wiring diagrams for the toggle switch, photo eye and other electronics in my door barricade. Every detail of the project was documented. Probabilistic structural design tends to apply higher safety factors to inexpensive or lightweight components, because it is a more efficient way to achieve a desired level of safety. We show that even with limited knowledge about stress probability distributions, we can increase the safety of an airplane by following this paradigm. We find that a small perturbation of the deterministic design is sufficient to maximize safety for the same weight. The structural optimization for safety of a representative system composed of a wing, a horizontal tail, and a vertical tail is used to demonstrate the paradigm. We find that moving a small amount of material from the wing to the tails leads to substantially increased structural safety. Because aircraft companies often apply additional safety factors beyond those mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration, this opens the door to obtaining probabilistic designs that also satisfy the Federal Aviation Administration code-based rules for d...

Dendrochronological dating of two phases of the monumental Gateway excavated at Tille Höyük on the Turkish Euphrates was carried out by Peter Kuniholm and his team in 1993. Very recently Carol Griggs and Sturt Manning, also of Cornell University, used AMS 14C to check cross-matching of tree-ring sequences. New dates suggest that the first phase of the gate was constructed toward the middle of the twelfth century BCE, probably a few decades after the fall of the LBA Hittite capital at Hattuša. Some implications of this lower dating for our understanding of the Early Iron Age are discussed, and new reconstructions of the Gateway plan are provided.

Where social occasions, in the context of nightclubs and music venues, are bounded, the space of the entrance is accomplished via regulation of attendees by workers. This regulation ensures: the venue stays within capacity; people have been invited or (if required) pay the fee; entry to ‘undesirables,’ such as drunks, is prohibited. This paper draws from experience of attending social occasions and being a doorperson to categorise and examine methods of entering where access is restricted. Often methods require attendees to engage in visible dialogue with the doorperson; where methods are invisible, attendees can circumvent access restrictions whilst a semblance of order is maintained.
