Every person operating a motor vehicle has a responsibility to obey the state laws, city ordinances, and college rules that regulate traffic and parking. The speed limit on all campuses is 10 MPH unless otherwise posted. Here is some helpful information on the different college rules to make sure you are in compliance. Amarillo College is not responsible for any damage, vandalism, or theft of vehicles parked on Amarillo College property. Vehicles left abandoned or constitutes a nuisance may be towed away at the owner’s expense.
Abandoned Vehicles: A vehicle cannot be parked and left unattended for more than 72 hours on College property.
Vehicles Parked Overnight: If you must leave your vehicle parked overnight, notify the Amarillo College Police Department of the location, vehicle description, why it will be left, and when it will be picked up.

Amarillo College Police Department issues several types of citations, so follow the directions on the citation to make a payment.
Amarillo College Parking Citations are white with an attached envelope. The payment is due within 7 business days. You can pay these in person where you pay for school, at the Business Office, mail your payment, or call AskAC (806-371-5000) and pay over the phone as long as you have your citation information. If you do not pay in time the fine will double, a hold will be placed on your record, and you will not be able to register for classes or get a transcript until it is paid.
You have 7 business days from the date of the citation to appeal the citation. Appeals must be made following the Policies and Procedures in the Student Rights and Responsibilities. The citation appeal form can be picked up in the Police Lobby located in Durrett Hall on Washington Campus or can be printed below. This appeals process only applies to the Amarillo College Parking Citations.

Moving Citations or Public Area Parking Citations are green and are written to the Justice of the Peace for that area. The payment information is handled by the designated court at the bottom of the citation. A payment plan, community service, or waiver may be available for those unable to pay the fine in full, but are handled by the court designated.
