TWO POEMS

Beatitudes

The sting ray flies, the penguin swims
And the nightshade harms and heals
Like the spear of a hero.

Protect the silkworm, and the bear who
Created the world, from Mammon
As Allen Ginsberg forewarned.

Thank god for boredom, the great
Eventual deflator of all fads
And spurious elevations,

For without itBy centuries of baloney,And have nothing.
