About this audiobook
Beatrice Archer has always done everything she’s supposed to—worked her ass off, ignored her non-existent personal life, and kept her mouth shut. Now she’s over it. The rat race, respectability … the underwire bras. She’s taking her life
back. Starting with moving to Nowhere, Colorado to live life on her own terms.
Now Bea gives exactly zero forks. Beer for breakfast. Sugar for everything else.
Baggy sweats and soft cotton undies FTW. Then a much younger and delightfully attractive cop is called to deal with her flagrant disregard for appropriate clothing outside the local diner (some folks just don’t appreciate bunny slippers) and Bea
realizes there’s something missing from her little decathlon of decadence … and he might be the guy to help her out.
When it comes to breaking rules, Officer Austin Cooper is surprisingly eager to assist. He’s charming, a little bit cowboy, and a whole lot sexy. But Bea’s about to discover that breaking the rules has consequences. And all of the cherry pies in
Colorado can’t save her from what’s coming …

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Beatrice Archer chose the town of Credence, Colorado by throwing darts at a map. Her abrupt departure from the advertising scene in LA involved quitting the job in which she had poured her heart and soul, Now she is adrift, wearing sweats with no bra, eating junk food, and ignoring personal hygiene. When she meets 25 year old Officer Austin Cooper, she immediately falls into lust, but he is too young and she is too messed up to start anything with him. Austin can't stop thinking about Beatrice since he first saw her eating two ice cream cones at the same time and carrying a sack filled with slices of pie, so he decides to spend some time figuring out what makes her tick.
Breaking All the Rules starts strong with Bea doing everything she can to break the rules, but once she begins to conform to societal norms, the story begins to drag. While Bea is obviously depressed, she does nothing to seek help or advice. Bea and Austin are a cute couple despite their ten year age difference, but their relationship doesn't really make much sense and is difficult to believe. In addition, some of Bea's decisions make her unlikable and not worthy of Austin. Overall, Breaking All the Rules is an easy to read, fun story that lacks substance. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Breaking All the Rules by Amy Andrews
Creedence, Colorado #4
Smiles for miles that will linger after reading this book. It was PERFECT for me after a few who done its filled with murder and mayhem and so good that I had to take a break, tell my sister to see if her library had it, and get her name on the list to read it as soon as possible. I didn’t know as I began to read that I would be returning to wonderful small-town Creedence, Colorado. I have visited the town and its community ni the past and found it filled with book-hero worthy attractive single males that are high on the hunk-meter – so many more splendid stories left to be told based here – can’t wait.
What I liked:
* Beatrice Archer: burned out ex-advertising executive, angry, ready to break out of the mold she has rigorously been stuck in, sugar lover, a bit of a rebel, learns a LOT about herself through the pages of this book…rather taken with Austin
* Austin Cooper: small town policeman, youngest of several children, a hunk, taken with Beatrice, amenable to helping Bea be a rule breaker, wiser than his years might indicate, good with and for Beatriss…love the way he says her name…and a few other things, too
* The dialogues between Bea and Austin – had me chuckling and smiling most of the book
* The close friendships – male and female – within Creedence
* Austin’s warm loving punster family
* The pies…and the part they played in the story
* Princess: adopted cat, not a spring chicken, rather bedraggled, pampered, a star in her own right
* The issues that Bea had to work through and how she did it
* The way family played a part for both Bea and Austin
* How art and creativity was such a big part of the story
* The way the age gap was handled
* Thinking about who might have their story told next AND not wanting to miss it
What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about how too many times in life we allow others and our own backstories to change the trajectory our lives might take
Did I like this book? Loved it
Would I read more in this series? Definitely
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the ARC – This is my honest review.
5 Stars - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Oh my gosh, I loved this book! Bea was amazing and I just couldn’t get enough of her rule-breaking, unfiltered ways. Austin was perfection. He seemed to know just what to say and do at every moment. Together, these two were simply wonderful. This was one of those books that was almost impossible to put down once I started reading because I just had to know what Bea and Austin might do next.
Bea has basically run away to Credence, Colorado. She left her all-consuming job in advertising after being passed over for a promotion once again. She has barely left the small apartment she rented until a quest for sugar brings her out. And she runs right into Austin, a local police officer. These two were great together from the start. Bea is older than Austin so she resists getting involved but it really just is meant to be and the chemistry between them is off the charts.
I found this to be a fantastic book with a wonderful sense of humor. I found myself laughing more than once and I may have swooned a time or two as well. This book had everything that I hoped it would and a whole lot more. I will definitely be recommending this one to others. I cannot wait to read more from Amy Andrews.
I received an advanced review copy of this book from Entangled: Amara.
