About this audiobook
“If you are someone who gravitates toward emotional gut punch reads, allow me to introduce you to this spectacular debut…”—BuzzFeed
Here are three things you should know about my husband:
- He was the great love of my life despite his penchant for going incommunicado.
- He was, as far as I and everyone else could tell, perfectly happy. Which is significant because…
- On New Year’s Eve, he died.
And here is one thing you should know about me:
- I found him.
Bonus fact: No. I am not okay.
Someday, Maybe is a stunning, witty debut novel about a young woman’s emotional journey through unimaginable loss, pulled along by her tight-knit Nigerian family, a posse of friends, and the love and laughter she shared with her husband.
“Incisive and witty. I couldn’t put it down.”—Lolá Ákínmádé Åkerström, internationally bestselling author of In Every Mirror She's Black
“A masterfully woven exposition on love and loss. Nwabineli is magic with words.”—Bolu Babalola, internationally bestselling author of Honey and Spice
Don't miss Onyi Nwabineli's next stunning page-turner, ALLOW ME TO INTRODUCE MYSELF, where a former kidfluencer must overcome her toxic family, reclaim her identity and, ultimately, find the freedom to be herself...
Editor's Note
Bittersweet…
Nwabineli’s debut explores the stages of grief through the eyes of Eve, a London-based woman who’s blindsided after her husband takes his own life. Eve struggles to accept the unacceptable while experiencing job loss, familial support, in-law strife, and more. “Someday, Maybe” is a bittersweet and bitingly emotional journey that doesn’t shy away from the ripple effects of suicide.

What our readers think
Readers find this title to be a powerful exploration of grief and its impact on relationships. The protagonist is complex and evokes both love and hate from readers. The book delves into the brokenness and devastation caused by loss, leaving a lasting impression. While not an uplifting or happy read, it is still enjoyed for its well-written narrative and dark humor.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Loved it. Very well read and gives a good depiction of the meandering torture that grief is.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I enjoyed listening to this book, well done. I was saddened though, I wanted some kind of closure. Overall, enjoyed the book
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is the funniest Black comedy I've read in Avery long time.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5“There is a sacredness in tears…They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep contrition, and of unspeakable love.”
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5MY GOODNESS WHAT A BOOK. Wow wow wow. I have never read anything like this. I am shook. I laughed. I cried. I thought about my own relationships and friendships. I loved the protagonist. I hated her at times but wow this was a STORY.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5It reminds you of the brokenness left after losing someone tragically, but also the devastation it causes to the ones that watch you experience the indescribable pain. Not an uplifting or happy read, but a good one.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The writing is good but grief becomes a tiresome process with the main character. I wish that had been development rather than stagnation and pity
