About this audiobook

A romantic cabin getaway doesn't go exactly as planned.

High up on the windswept cliffs of Pale Peak, Faye and Felix celebrate their new engagement. But soon, a chorus of ghastly noises erupts from the nearby woods: the screams of animals, the cries of children, and the mad babble of a hundred mournful voices. A dark figure looms near the windows in the dead of night, whispering to Faye. As the weather turns deadly, Felix discovers that his terrified fiancée isn't just mumbling in her sleep—she's whispering back.

Worth a read. Just wish it had a little more grit to it. Maybe a few more curse words or even a sex scene with the entity! But that’s just me I guess ? I really did like it a lot.

I don’t usually give books 5 stars but this one deserves it. This book had me hanging on to EVERY word and so scared I couldn’t listen to it at night. Narration was impeccable the sounds and voices were good enough to give me chills!

well-recorded even in 2.5x speed! Unforgettable story. Scary in the beginning but a bit anticlimactic at the end. Nevertheless, 4 stars!

I love this book that is until it came to the ending. It left me thinking "all of that for this?" It was still a great read absolutely love the narrator. I have been creeped out for days. Four stars only because of the ending, but still worth the read.

Good until the end when it fell completely flat for me.

I really enjoyed this story. There were some parts that creeped me out so much that I wanted to turn on the lights, even with my husband in bed next to me. Best to listen to at night for creepy atmosphere. I liked the characters, I felt they acted reasonably in each situation rather than making dumb choices no one would ever choose. I've been reading horror for 25+ yrs, so it's hard for me to find books that truly scare me. This one did. If you like scary stories with great characters you should try this book out.

Truly creepy... but it falls apart at the end. Feels frustrated and rushed

Starts off ok. The first few chapters keep your attention, but towards the end? Honestly, i thought how boring. No this book is not scary. Creepy sure but thats it. The whole number 5 thing is so anticlimactic. I don't know. It was just ok. Oh and god lord the narrator was awful!! I agree with the previous review. I get their dramatizing this story but it felt robotic and obnoxious. Takes you out of enjoying the story.

I started not to download this audiobook because of the negative reviews and I'm so glad I didn't pay them any attention.

I loved Stolen Tongues. It was terrifying, unsettling and very informative (at the end). While I would have loved a different ending, I know we can't always get what we want. The narrator was fantastic and this was just a very entertaining book and worth each of the stars I gave it.

I am only giving this book 2 stars because it had the BEST first 4 chapters!! I thought this was really going to be scary, however the narration for this book was SO SO annoying! There is no reason to just raise your voice to screaming to show 'fear in a characters reaction to something' does not make a book scary. Was really disappointed with this story of what could have been REALLY scary.
    Would not recommend.
    2 stars.

The narrator was incredible, I totally disagree with other reviewers who said otherwise. The author really did a great job developing the characters, and his ability to depict each scene was remarkable. There was some horror and plenty suspense to go around. I couldn't put it down. I did question the ending at first, but after contemplating, I realized it did make sense to me. Great job.

I DNF’d this around the 30% ish percent mark but wow, there was a line “moving like a meth-addicted ballerina” to describe this woman’s unnatural movements (and we’re supposed to be scared) but this book, really, truly, is just… awful. No suspense. No intrigue. Nothing. This was getting hyped by some friends of mine and I will kindly tell them to never give me another recommendation again.

Literally such a great novel! I normally have to preoccupy my hands while listening to audiobooks, but this one was so captivating that I simply stared at a wall while listening. Couldn't recommend it more!

I give the book 5 stars for the story itself but take away one for the rep of women and native americans.
The author definitely tried to do well by both (overlapping) groups but it was obvious at times that the book was written by a white guy.
The creeping terror was great and very engaging and it was sweet to see that the main character was trying to do well by the people he met, so I feel like if the author keeps growing and learning I'm willing to forgive missteps he makes along the way.

I am a white, european woman though, so I can only speak on the issues with the female rep in this.

Still the story was great and kept me guessing throughout.

Narrator was good, but limited in voice changes between characters. His attempt at the female voice was…well, not to my liking. Very good story though.

While I enjoyed this novel, I would have preferred Fay to be the narrator rather than Felix.

Creepy, but only because the subject matter is inherently creepy, not because the writing or narration is. If anything, the writing makes truly scary situations less creepy, because everything happens so fast without leaving any amount of time to linger.
I ended up quitting halfway through because I didnt care for any of the characters and grew kind of bored.
