About this audiobook

His dark seduction will be her undoing….

After being cruelly jilted by a lord who claimed to adore her, Miss Payton Peppiwell swore her future husband would be as ordinary as she. Now if only her family would listen to her. Then she meets Mikhail Konstantinovich, an untitled horse breeder, in a highly improper and scandalous encounter. Never had Payton expected to be so attracted to the dark, intriguing man, who seduces her to recklessness with a mere stare.

Mikhail abhors anything to do with intimacy. Yet Miss Peppiwell stirs hunger and a need long forgotten in him. But Mikhail has a dark past—one that means his lust must be sated in a way entirely unsuitable for a lady. But his biggest secret will be the hardest for Payton to overcome: Mikhail is not only titled, he’s a prince….

What our readers think

Readers find this title to be a mixed bag. While they enjoy the historical romance genre and appreciate the author's writing, the narration of the audiobook is a major drawback. Many reviewers express disappointment with the accents and voices of the characters, particularly the hero, which they find distracting and unappealing. Some even describe the hero's voice as creepy or like that of an old man. Overall, readers feel that the narration takes away from their ability to fully enjoy the book.

As always another lovely story by Stacy Reid. I would give 5 stars for the story and 0 for the narration
The narrator was awful yet again, actually even worse than ever. Mikhail sounded like a decrepid old women. And she, Payton, sounded really pathetic. I nearly stopped listening to it because I couldn't bear it any longer but I persevered because the story was good. Thank goodness this series is finished so I won't ever listen to anymore books by this narrator again.

Terrible Narration. The hero sounds like an 80 year old man and she sounds eight.

3.5 stars. I did like it but it could have been so much better! Not much depth. No suspense or drama. The narrators accents really take away from being able to enjoy the book! They were atrocious.

Not even one chapter in and I must say - this narrator was not the right fit for this audiobook. Her accents are beyond ridiculous, borderline offensive! Skip the audiobook. The dialogues are awful.

I am not sure I mind the book but the way the male character is read like a 90 year old is annoying.

Bad narrator. The male hero has a creepy voice. Not very romantic when the hero sounds like an old man.

I enjoy the historical romance genre, both saucy and sanitised, particularly when accompanied by a good storyline and clever wit. Stacey Reid is a great author, I have listened to the entire series. Sadly, the Russian accent was so thick that the hero sounded like a villain from the worst melodrama. This is a prime example of when less is more. Light accent hints, rather than gutteral coarseness would have made this a favourite listen.
